People hurt the prophet, mocked and persecuted him and his companions ... so he complained them to God
God commanded him to forbear patiently the hurt of his people, as had the past prophets forborne..
His people kept hurting and persecuting him, and again he complained them to God ..
God again commanded him to forbear patiently and that he should not invoke destruction of his people ..
And again his people opposed him for 13 years .. and again God commanded him to be patient about his people, and that he should not pray for the destruction of his people ..
This is cited in a large number of the Quran ayat telling the prophet to forbear and forbear, until at last the Prophet said: "Lord, I will forbear."
So the aya was revealed in the Quran 7: 137, which means:
(And We let the people h that were abased [by Pharaoh i] inherit all the east and the west of the land j which We blessed [with much trees and fruits];
and perfectly was fulfilled the most fair promise k of your Lord [O Mohammed] upon the Children of Israel, for that they endured patiently; and We destroyed utterly the [idols, statues and high buildings] that Pharaoh and his people had made and what ceilings they had been building [above those idols.])

137 j of Levant or the Greater Syria; because it belonged to the Amalekite, and it then became an inheritance for the Children of Israel.

Therefore, the Prophet delighted for he knew then that the victory is very near.
