The Age of Crazy Weather

Three major power outages in little more than three weeks in Ontario's Kawarthas. It's getting a little unnerving. Generator sales are brisk. Last night a 'gust line' ripped through the area and in some of the fiercest winds I've ever experienced millions in damage were exacted in less than half an hour. Watching the hurricane force winds and the eerie sound they made just after 11 last night made me think a tornado was pushing them ahead. I toured the city this morning and massive trees are down all over Peterborough. This was a short, remarkable storm. July has not been kind here. Two years ago on July 14 all provincial records for rainfall were broken and the city's downtown core was flooded. So was much of the surrounding area.
I've seen more crazy weather in the last 5 years here than in any time in the last half century. Global warming looks a little more real each day.

Same down here. Tornados in the northern part of our prov. and humidex warnings down here. It's real alright I'm on the coast and yesterday was the hottest I've ever been in all my years.

If the weather continues to be as aggressive and unfriendly as it has, folks had better get used to insurance adjustments. Locally, it's now impossible to buy the flood coverage we used to have. Riders must be purchased and even these have small ceilings. Guess when you get mugged by the weather too often even the good guys think you're a liability.
Makes me wonder then if cigarette companies can be sued for the damage they do why can't companies be sued who dominate the greenhouse emissions list. They are obviously implicated in the increased cost of insurance in areas like my own.
