COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Emergency officials in Colleton County say 300 gallons of orange juice leaked into a swamp near Yemasee following a truck accident that injured two people on Wednesday.

Colleton County Fire and Rescue reported the accident happened early Wednesday morning on I-95 at mile marker 41. First responders reported locating a tanker truck on its side with heavy damage to its cab.

According to CCFR officials, the truck left the roadway at a high rate of speed, struck over a dozen trees before crashing into an embankment.

Emergency officials say crews extricated a female passenger from the cab. Authorities reported that the woman suffered multiple traumatic injuries including a head injury.

Responding units said they had to use a saw to cut the roof of the truck in order to get to the driver, a 63-year-old man from Florida. CCFR officials say the driver also received multiple traumatic injuries and was later transferred to the trauma center at MUSC.

The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
