Revisiting Daniel's experience in Babylon in the OP, we understand that the quality of what we ingest impacts the quality of our physical and spiritual health.
nutritious food : healthy body :: pure spiritual fare : sound mind/heart
That is one small incident during the time Daniel was in Babylon. Did the food help Daniel explain Neb's dream to him or did Daniel's diet result in Neb having this confession to God before he died?
Da:4:37:
Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven,
all whose works are truth,
and his ways judgment:
and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
Daniel never experienced any events during those 10 days so did the visions of Gabriel visiting come from some fermenting fruit or not so plain water? How about during any of the visions that do need explanations as in Da:2 and Da:7, since the explanations are on the same page why not just explain it and do away with the vision and explanation? (not counting that some other visions left him very confused).
Jesus was either real or He wasn't. If He was real then the cross and resurrection were real.
1Co:15:32:
If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus,
what advantageth it me,
if the dead rise not?
let us eat and drink;
for to morrow we die.
Eze:37:12-14:
Therefore prophesy and say unto them,
Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Behold,
O my people,
I will open your graves,
and cause you to come up out of your graves,
and bring you into the land of Israel.
And ye shall know that I am the LORD,
when
I have opened your graves,
O my people,
and
brought you up out of your graves,
And shall put my spirit in you,
and ye shall live,
and I shall place you in your own land:
then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it,
and performed it,
saith the LORD.
Eze:39:27-29:
When
I have brought them again from the people,
and gathered them out of their enemies' lands,
and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;
Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God,
which cause them to be led into captivity among the heathen:
but I have gathered them unto their own land,
and
have left none of them any more there.
Neither will I hide my face any more from them:
for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel,
saith the Lord GOD.
Eze:47:12:
And by the river upon the bank thereof,
on this side and on that side,
shall grow all trees for meat,
whose leaf shall not fade,
neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed:
it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months,
because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary:
and the fruit thereof shall be for meat,
and the leaf thereof for medicine.
Jer:31:31-34:
Behold,
the days come,
saith the LORD,
that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel,
and with the house of Judah:
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt;
which my covenant they brake,
although I was an husband unto them,
saith the LORD:
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel;
After those days,
saith the LORD,
I will put my law in their inward parts,
and write it in their hearts;
and will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour,
and every man his brother,
saying,
Know the LORD:
for they shall all know me,
from the least of them unto the greatest of them,
saith the LORD;
for I will forgive their iniquity,
and I will remember their sin no more.God even definesthe land of the enemy as being dead and in the graveso why is any effort spent in trying to make it anything but the physical grave??
Jer:31:15-17:
Thus saith the LORD;
A voice was heard in Ramah,
lamentation,
and bitter weeping;
Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children,
because they were not.
Thus saith the LORD;
Refrain thy voice from weeping,
and thine eyes from tears:
for thy work shall be rewarded,
saith the LORD;
and
they shall come again from the land of the enemy.
And there is hope in thine end,
saith the LORD,
that
thy children shall come again to their own border.
M't:2:15-18:
And was there until the death of Herod:
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet,
saying,
Out of Egypt have I called my son.
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men,
was exceeding wroth,
and sent forth,
and
slew all the children that were in Bethlehem,
and in all the coasts thereof,
from two years old and under,
according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying,
In Rama was there a voice heard,
lamentation,
and weeping,
and great mourning,
Rachel
weeping for her children,
and would not be comforted,
because they are not.
If you want to change it into symbolism you have to do it for the whole book rather than just a word here and there, try doing it for all/any of Isaiah:65. It can't be done and if it was it would sound disjointed compared to how the chapter reads if it is an expansion of the group called 'the rest' from Re:20. I'm going to guess that nobody will take the challenge.
Daniel declined the royal food due to its nutritional deficiency and toxicity. He was rewarded with physical health. He likewise declined to participate in Babylonian philosophy/religion due to its spiritual deficiency and toxicity. His reward was a sound mind/heart.
We make choices like Daniel's in our lives by the physical/spiritual food we consume. Healthy physical/spiritual fare translates into healthy body/mind.
What are some examples of unhealthy spiritual fare?
Here are some examples of food being good for the physical body. Nothing in there is going to cause 'enlightenment' yet reading the Bible will give you enlightenment to a part of who God is, the less you 'work' the text the better. The stumbling block we have to get over is finding all the parts that cover any specific topic as there is a bit in parts of different books. Say some of my posts were 'confusing to some' but if they had the text that I was posting on other sites about the same topic a lot of the 'mystery' would evaporate just like that. The Bible does that in 66 Books and 40 Scribes. Only the writer of Revelations had all the text so they alone would have understood the whole book, one of the rewards for being the beloved Disciple that Jesus loved.
