I would suggest that the spirit is the non-material self. The spirit is fed what we hear, read, see.

What would you consider to be quality spiritual food, capable of producing healthy spirituality?

Hello, Friend. Yes, of course. What about music? literature? electronic media? art? Are some sources more spiritually-enhancing than others? If so, please identify some.

"Today's youth have constant access to many different forms of media through television, cell phones, movies, music, video games, and the Internet. Media can enhance children's education, learning opportunities, curiosity, creativity, and communication. However, it can also teach negative life lessons; consume too much of children's time; and distract them from exercise, other physical play, and socialization."
Children and Media Issues Conclusion - Internet Addiction and Media Issues

Various media rating systems suggest that some media content can be detrimental to developing minds. Indeed, life-long learners of any age must be cautious about the media content we ingest as media : spirit :: food : body.

The wine is unhealthy and causes diseases, this is certain, but they in spite drink it for pleasure.
It is forbidden in the Torah and in the Quran.
Wine is drunk at many Jewish festivals and on holy days.

Wine is drunk at many Jewish festivals and on holy days.
Drank rather than drunk, that is after the drinking of said wine.
You forgot to add 'by the barrel'.
Rather than the 10 days that happened long ago some should be more concerned about these 10 days which are still in the future.

Joh:2:6:
And there were set there six waterpots of stone,
after the manner of the purifying of the Jews,
containing two or three firkins apiece.

fir·kin

(fûr′kĭn)n.1. A small wooden barrel or covered vessel.
2. Any of several British units of capacity, usually equal to about 1/4 of a barrel or 9 gallons (34 liters).

Re:2:10:
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer:
behold,
the devil shall cast some of you into prison,
that ye may be tried;
and ye shall have tribulation ten days:
be thou faithful unto death,
and I will give thee a crown of life.

yeah lotsa winos in the jewish communities.

It was probably the winos who wrote the torah and tanakh and caused all these festivals as an excuse to get plastered.

Jewish drunks are exceedingly rare in my experiece.

How much experience is that??

59 years of experience, half of it in Englsh Montreal where a big part of it is Jewish. One third of my universty class was Jewish and all through school there were always Jewish kids in my class. They were my friends, neighbours, buds. I essentially grew up in a Jewish community.

So, how experienced are you then? Still living in Mum's basement making snide comments as a hobby?

There is a large Jewish community in Phoenix. On Saturdays I use to enjoy getting up early and driving to that part of the city and watching the families enjoying their Sabbath day all dressed up the men in their black suits and hats. The Ladies wearing their pretty dresses pushing the baby strollers and the other little ones walking behind. I guess being a divorced man I envied their commitment to family.

On Saturday evenings (after the Sabbath is over) in Outremont on the side of Mount Royal, the Hassidim and their families are out strolling in their finery, often to the St Viateur bagel bakery
St-Viateur Bagel | Montreal hand-rolled bagels cooked in traditional wood-stoves. Serving fresh and delicious bagels since 1957. where you get REAL bagels (more like a traditional European pretzel, not a bread donut) baked in front of an open fire.

I hear what you are saying but from experience I found that not allowing my girls to do a lot of the things that the other kids were allowed to do put a wall between my girls and I . I knew that sometimes I could not put friendship with my girls ahead of being a parent, but I also came to understand that you cannot put a leash on your children either. Regardless of how much you may fear them getting hurt. The youth live in this world the way it is and sooner or later they'll have to deal with the way things are. They'll make mistakes and they'll face the consequences of the mistakes they make. But that is how they will learn and grow. I did not shield my kids from the world and eventually decided not to try and get them to think like me about things. My girls are now grown and doing fine despite my mistakes raising them. I am glad though that I did not force religion down their throats. Quite honestly, I never felt comfortable going to church myself.

Nobody in the bars I visited mention religion, let alone slammed anybody if they had one. (that would be across AB rather than some local bar)
How many drunks were there from other groups when you were going to school. Sounds like you are Jewish yourself.
