Telus vs Rogers

I say go for Rogers. My sister has never had a problem. But get a motorola..they i think in general are better phones.

Avoid audiovox like the flipping plaugue.

I live in Victoria BC, and was wondering which service would be better for me. Coverage and costs. Your opinion is much appreciated.

TELUS Mobility uses CDMA network which is the latest network, therefore you'll have fewer drop calls, bigger coverage....better reception....quality during calls.....and so on... plan wise, TELUS just went through a big phase of releasing new plans you could check their website for details... if you know in advance that you'll have more incoming calls than outgoing....than...ur option would be TELUS 25 ($25) which is unlimited incoming calls... do i sound like a sales rep??? guess right.... i work for telus mobility dealer...if you got more question about telus.....post em~

oh and.....Rogers.... they suck....just use telus... lol.. kidding..

my opinion...

Rogers have many cool phones... but downside is to that is in most cases you have to purchase the phone even though if you are going for a say.......3year contract... but if your okay with buying one...by all means~~jump in.... keep in mind... Rogers use GSM network...and smaller coverage than TELUS... if your not planing to go anywhere far and often....it won't matter much... but quality wise....i think TELUS (not saying this cause i work for TELUS....keke...)

However, if you compare digital network, Rogers' GSM network is larger than any other digital networks. In terms of sound/voice quality, GSM gives better sound quality. With CDMA phones, you'll feel like robotic, this comment has been published by some professionals.

Then again, different providers has their goods and bads, but what you've just said, it's not true. Yes, telus must something better than Rogers/Bell/Fido, but the others must also has something better to cover it.

Until now, rogers/fido fits me the best, so telus might fit you.

CDMA is slightly newer than gsm. 1991 was the year the first gsm network was released, 1995 was the launch of the first cdma network. Technically speaking CDMA is a better technology but technicialities really dont matter. As you are already aware gsm's upgrade path HSDPA is better than the current cdma upgrade path.

the problem with quoting coverage statistics is that companies have a habit of misleading the consumer. Rogers has the best digital coverage for land area covered, but Telus has the larget digital coverage per population covered. Bell is a very very close second to telus. Personally I believe landmass should be the indicator not population.

i'm gettig little fed up with this endless argument which network is superior than the other.. like i said regardless of whatever network it's up the individual's choice which carrier they should go upon......

well telus has a much better service and is a standered upto date service and they do'nt try to rip you off like rodgers does they over charge and telus has a wide
area networks in place and much better plans and coverage and
lots more features then rodgers and here are some times of networks analog service ! digital pcs ! digital mike ! other! and
on some of telus mobility some of the plans have a free voicemail
holds 3 messages and basic holds 10 messages for cost and advanced holds 25 messages for cost rodgers does not offer good voicemail at all thier basic has no messages indacator and only thier enhanced has an indacator and thier pay as you go is crap with rodgers and much better with telus i would recommended telus mobility for service good luck.

Well like i said, every company has their own goods and bads.
Yes Telus, offer free "3" voicemail. However their customer service is a "no comment" for me.
Giving you an example, Rogers' cancelation policy is, $20 times the number of the months remaining on the contract or to a MAXIMUM $200. No matter what plan you have.

With telus, there is no CAP. One of my potential customer, called telus to cancel his line and he is willng to pay the ECF (early cancelatoin fee). however, he is not going to cancel, as telus is asking for $1800 to cancel. NO THAT IS NOT A TYPO. it's really $1800. He has a data plan of $60 a month, he has 30 months left on his contract, so telus is asking for $60x30, which is $1800.

As for coverage, different network fits different needs, and for me to say, Rogers fits my needs, I have no issues wherever I go, and I'm not a only-city guy, I go camping once or twice each summer. And the GSM liberty of phones is convenient, I don't have to call in, and tell them I switch phones so they can charge me for $25 or $35 for ESN change, i don't have to manually program my phone and I don't have to re-enter ALL my phone book.

if you like telus, fine, go with telus. As longest as you're happy.

i'm in the same boat as you there kalok...i go away for a couple weeks every summer, i go skiing during the winter, and spring i go away for a few days as well...so i think i'm going with rogers and thats my final decision. 45.85$ is what my plan would cost me but w/e its worth it in the end

Really? Is this a recent thing because I distinctly remember paying 25 dollars to get my plan matched with a Rogers promotion... Or are you saying it costs nothing to go from Telus plan to another Telus plan?

nothing to switch between telus plans, if your without a contract its up to retention and loyalty to match a plan from a competitor but in my experience they do it for free if you threaten to cancel. Why would you switch to a rogers promotion? telus and rogers match each other like crazy telus probably had the same thing

The early cancellation fee with telus really does bite. I'm not sure if any of you would agree with this but, GSM is the "more popular" network around the world, hence, high demand for new/cool products. I just saw the new Samsung D600 and my jaw dropped, unfortunately im on a telus contract (2 years left) and the D600 is a GSM phone just released in europe but it is extremely cool and i want it, sadly for me it will not work with the CDMA networks i was pretty excited when telus launched there global roaming card that you can use with GSM phones to roam around the world, but my bubble was burst when i called them and they told me it wouldn't work locally where the CDMA network was available. OH WELL, no 2 megapixel, 1 gig memory, mp3 player, word/powerpoint/pdf file viewer, bluetooth phone for me =(

I used Rogers for years. Then one day my phone wouldn't connect to the network. I called their 800 number, They said my phone was cloned in The Philippines so they cancelled my service. I owned a fully-optioned phone with multiple batteries, charges, in-car kit, leather case, etc. They said too bad you have to buy a new phone.

I switched to Fido because they offered GSM. Great around town. Lousy elsewhere. But I could transfer my SIM card to a new phone and keep my number, address book and setting.

Finally switched to Telus. Great coverage and service (for a telco). That was 3.5 years ago. I travel a lot and spend 2 or 3 months outside any Telus coverage. So I bought a GSM phone to use in Spain and Mexico (with local SIM cards from Vodafone and Telcel respectively.

Now I am going to use the GSM phone with Rogers and switch my Telus phone to Pay&Talk for my wife.
