A 16-year-old boy Central Florida was sentenced to five years in adult prison Friday after he was caught on a hidden home video sexually molesting two boys while he baby-sat the pair.Flagler County detectives said the father of 2- and 4-year-old boys set up a camera and videotaped baby sitter Brandon Jaffe forcing the children to perform sex acts.Friday, Jaffe took responsibility for his actions before his sentencing."It was my decision to manipulate you into doing those sexual acts," Jaffe said in court. "What I've done is horrible, and I can only imagine the hurt I've caused you."Jaffe was videotaped with a look of shock and disbelief after learning his sentence. The 16-year-old has been under house arrest in the victims' neighborhood for the last seven months. The judge said Jaffe's crimes were far too heinous for him to be sentenced as a juvenile offender."No parent should have to go through this, and no parent should have to explain sexual things to a 2- or 4-year-old," the victim's father said. "This should not happen."Jaffe turned 16 years old on Friday.

Personally, if or when I have children, I wouldn't have a babysitter of 16 years old. This is just me... I'm sure that many do, and are happy with their sitters. I just wouldn't feel comfortable with someone so young and inexperienced in childcare.
Another thing... Is it just me, or does anyone else think that sex offenders seem to be younger than usual these days?

I remember babysitting when I was 13 and 14, and now, when I think about it...I wouldn't have been prepared for anything had it happened. I think that's just too young. I too would use someone older and someone I knew...but I don't think the fact he was 16 had anything to do with his molesting those kids. It's sick. 2 and 4...so young.

A lot of child molesters actually start out that young or younger. It's disturbing. I know that some molesters who were molested when they were kids, sometimes molest children at the age they were when they were molested (did that make sense?)

Anyway, great that he got an adult conviction...16 years is old enough to know that is wrong.

You're right. If my memory serves me correctly, the bulk of those accused of molestation are between 14 and 18.

We have had a girl of 14 babysit...but her parents live up the street, and we know them and her well enough...and it's only been for early and local things.
We had a girl of 16 for a while...one night, when we got home, I noticed my computer was turned on...the next day, the kids told me they had to get themselves ready for bed...she was playing with the computer. She had taken it upon herself to use my computer, install MSN, and if you can believe this, set it up to auto log on, with HER id, every time I turned the computer on. (I must admit, I confused a lot of her friends for the next few days). We've never used her since. I wonder if she clued in?

Josephine, it's just a stat that's in my head. I know mid-teen boys are most at risk of being accused of the crime. Probably because of their position of accessibility.

Where did this case occur because it would be ironic if it was in the United States because in the united states a 16 year old is not enough of an adult to give consent but is enough of an audit to go to adult prison. I am very surprised that the majority of accused molesters are between 14 and 18. I wonder if the percentage of accusations reflects the percentage of crime. It is certainly not the image we see in the media of the old frail man. Man, the media makes the world seem scary. I guess you can't trust your kids with anyone.

Where it happened is in the submitted article. It took place in Florida.

Another thing to consider... many years ago, when our kids were baby-sat (funny-sounding word, eh?), I suddenly realized that I had been picking up and taking home the teenaged girl by myself. If she ever made any accusations about my behavior in the car, it would just be my word against hers.

From that day on, my WIFE went to get her and take her home... 8O

I don't think we should be taking tamarin's word for this...if she's going to give numbers like statistics, we should have some sort of proof, before we believe them. Tamarin...it's not that I think you're a big 'ol liar, but really...we should know the facts.

Watch the documentary, When girls do it. According to this documentary, which has never been refuted, 59% of pedophiles are women. What I can't understand is, why don't the prison sentences reflect this.

Maybe, their male "victims" keep it a secret.

I will try and locate this documentary...I am very curious about that statistic...nothing in our government records or justice Canada or even the Canadian Cente for Abuse Awareness reflects that...I'm very curious now.

I hope he enjoys the irony of the resulting situation.

Of course, by that I mean he's about to be on the receiving end of the same sort of acts he inflicted on those who were smaller, weaker, and less defenseless than himself in jail. A 16-year old homosexual child molester? Sounds like gang property now.

The documentary "when girls do it" was shown a number of times on discovery civilization channel 554 in the star choice smart stuff package. This package includes national geographic, animal planet, and the military channel. In a number of cases, the women worked in agencies that were supposed to protect children from abuse, needless to say, at the first hint of a lawsuit, everyone strove mightily to distance themselves from any possibility of liability. It's like any other type of pervert, you will find them perched at the point where the fishing is best. At this moment, that same channel is showing a documentary on women who kill. I suppose this channel likes to deal with those things that are generally ignored, because no other channel wants to show them.

Are you sure though that most of the cases were woman are the perpetrator are not statutory cases?

What I don't get about the original story is if the act was forced, why would they need a Nanny Cam to catch him? It seems to me that the guy was just asking to get caught.

Statutory as in the school teacher/student sexual liasons? This documentary didn't mention anything of that nature (if my memory serves me correctly), what it did show were a number of cases that I had never heard of before. A number of them dealt with the Karla Homolka type of scenario, I was the poor battered woman forced into the act. Of course, the video tape showed Karla was an active and also solo performer. Much the same was shown in these other women's cases. If I am to draw my own conclusion, then it would be that the law is finally willing to entertain the belief that women are capable of doing harm. Further to this, I would say that Karla's sweetheart deal from the law has done women more harm than previously imagined. No law enforcement agency wants to get caught up in something like that again, consequently, they are sifting the evidence more thoroughly, and they are willing to apportion blame more readily.

Well, what do you mean by "force"...I'm sure those little kids didn't want to perform those acts on him. Im hoping the parents weren't suscpious about molestation, and then decided to prove it with a nanny-cam....I think that would be stupid and crazy!
I would think that most parents put them in to see if the person is stealing or talking on the phone or even paying attention to the kids. I would hope that they at least know the babysitter and feel they can trust them...However, we all know very well that even those you think you can trust, sometime's can't be trusted!
Personally I would put a nanny-cam in. I mean I would only allow certain people to babysit, but I would absolutely put a camera in. In my opinion...they're kids and you really can't be too cautious.
