Teen dies after Toronto school shooting

It is real heartbreaker when a young boy dies in school shooting but in this case we have to remember that the school in question is located just down the street from the notorious Jane and Finch area where drive by shooting is a favorite past time.

Where gangs run rampant, where you are too afraid to take out your handkerchief to blow your nose because it might be the wrong color for the neighborhood.

This area of Toronto is the most violent area in all of Canada and the mayor of this city stands up in city hall chambers and dares to say that he is shocked. This is the same mayor that is spending millions of taxpayer’s money to beautify city hall instead of using this money to solve this problem.

For years Toronto had a lot of cases of sexual predators going into the schools but nothing has been done.

So is anyone surprised that school shooting is happening.

What the hotdog-eating mayor should do is start installing metal detectors into all schools in Toronto or in the problem schools that is in a high crime area.

If the mayor does nothing then school shooting will be the norm because this is the first incident I am sure that some students are thinking this is cool and that is really scary.

I can't tell you how disturbing this story is to me personally right now.

I have just as of today, pulled my son out of his school three weeks before the end of the year. He will complete his year at home, and write his exams at a yet to be determined location.

Why?

Because the school he attends has been having bomb threats - 5 in the last 2 weeks. Some kids associated with the prime suspect decided that my son was going to rat out the culprit. Not that my kid actually knows, but speculation is of course rampant, and he was overheard discussing with a group who MIGHT be responsible.

8 - yes 8 kids - jumped him last Thursday right in the school. On Tuesday, 5 more got him again, outside, but still on school property.

We've talked to the school and the cops. These kids already have serious records. One was in custody on Thursday afternoon, and out on Thursday evening. They have gang affiliations, so the 13 kids that got him are just the beginning. No possible way to get everyone that would retaliate if we pressed charges.

Neither the police nor the school can guarantee my son's safety. In the hopes of him NOT becoming a headline like that poor kid in Toronto, this is the only recourse we are left with.

I'm disgusted, angry and just heartsick about the whole bloody mess. :angryfire::-:)angryfire::-(

The mayor is obviously a complete idiot.

But not nearly as big an idiot as the person that did the shooting, or the person who made it possible for some young hoodlum to have a handgun. If people can't keep their handguns from getting into the hands of these punks, they shouldn't be allowed to have them. There should be jail time and heavy fines for simple possession, with a few obvious exceptions.

No argument there Juan.

But these "kids" packing handguns are criminals.....most of then drug dealers.

Tell me, if they can't stop them importing a steady supply of crack, how the hell can they stop them importing a handgun or two?

That's just it. A foolproof solution has yet to be found. I can't imagine what kind of environment we'd have to create in order to keep our kids safe. I'm not sure that stopping the access to the weapons is entirely the answer either. Of course it should be a given that schools, or any public place for that matter are not the places for weapons. So why are the kids bringing them in????

Something has to be done about the attitude of disposable life our young ones are sporting these days. It's not just the victims and their family's loss when a tragedy like this happens. Any kid that is willing to take another's life is to me, missing a crucial element of what it means to be human. They surely must be missing out on one of the most essential aspects of their life experience if their sense of humanity is already so broken at such a young age.

As we are seeing more and more these days, the consequences are all of ours to bear when this happens.

I just watched a clip on the news where they talked to his older brother, another young man who I'm sure everyone will say is a shining star. BUT,he was wearing a do-rag under his baseball cap,a blue do-rag that in most inner city circles signifies gang allegiance. Maybe he is not so pristine and just maybe the kid who got shot isn't either. It is interesting that the politicians have started up the handgun ban again. This puts the blame on the conservatives and that is what most people will remember even if it turns out that the punk shooter has 30 priors and is out on bail, like the punk goof that shot Kreba on boxing day.

Ok, so does anyone know why kids join gangs, and have any ideas of how to get them out?

None of my goddaughters, nor my nephew, got into trouble, but I have no idea what I could have done if they had gone bad.

Isn't there some way to prevent any student from being on the school ground, or in the school with a
gun.
There should'nt be a person within school boundary with a gun, period.

As a teacher, I would make sure none of the students had guns. Each student should be checked each
day, their locker should be checked periodically. No guns at all at school.

I know we can't control guns in public areas, but we should be able to in schools/school grounds.

Any kids with a gun, should automatically be suspended.

Tell me what is so hard about that, please.
