Guess kids will be kids. I just hope they don't post it on YouTube. Many US school districts now demand security cameras on buses not so much to make them safer as to deter the girls giving the boys bj's. Sad but true. Thanks in no small part to the sexual exploitation of children by media superstars like Britney Spears, Madonna, Christina Aguilera and a host of others who profit when kids think they have to dress, think, consume and act like adults just to belong.

6th grade??!! These CHILDREN need to be taught self-respect! Where the hell are the parents? How does a teacher not notice two people going-at-it??!!

I would have been 11 years old in grade 6. I suppose these two could have been 13 at most. Nothing teacher could have done. With other kids as lookout especially. Classes with exhaust fans and lab stations were always places to engage in illict activities in high school. Another example of the ever falling sexual standards of today. With all the sex kittens on TV it's no wonder. Young girls emulating them and young guys lusting after them. Most pop music is aimed at young teens.

The article said one kid acted as a lookout, and when the teacher did find out what was going on, things were stopped. I dunno, sounds like experimentation to me...curious kids...experimenting. Maybe what is needed is some sex education. I wonder if that have one of those oh so helpful abstenance only education policies in that neck of the woods?

Typical SP response.

Oh, they are exploring or experimenting they are in need of sex-ed.

FYI they are in GRADE 6!

Society is so sex-driven, that this is our results.

If the teacher was aware of this he/she should have been fired, if not then its not their fault, but teachers should do checks in the classroom every 15 minutes or so.

In lab statioins in HS they always did that...

By the time I hit grade six, my body had been that of a woman for 2 years. 2 YEARS. 2 years of my hormones, my physical biology, telling me to ignore what society had to say about it, I was fit to breed. We like to pretend that kids are just kids are just kids... but puberty is common at age 8 now, which puts periods beginning at 10 years. 10 years old, and their bodies are telling these girls that they should be having babies. If they've made it to grade 6 without snapping and having sex, then they've shown constraint! Education is key, and not the education even you or I may have received... these kids need more education, at an earlier age, to catch them up to what the media has already let them know, and what their biology is already telling them they should be doing.

What the?? You didn't experiment at a young age? You weren't curious?

When exactly DID you get sex education...or DID you?? When do YOU think they should get it?? When it's WAY too late? After the kids have discovered everything they wanted to on their own? THAT'S brilliant!

Why is this, why are we hitting puberty at a younger age?

I hit that at 9ish

The short answer... we're healthier. Healthier animals can reproduce earlier, ensuring that more healthy animals are born, and giving them a reproductive edge.

Healthier...maybe, but I also wonder if it's the hormones and chemicals we ingest every day. The hormones they give to cows and chickens to make them reproduce earlier and more frequently...makes me nervous!

Also, I think there is a difference between "experimenting" (playing doctor anyone?) and actually having sex! I think kids need to be educated about the concept of sex very early...they should be taught the proper names for all their body parts, to reduce the possibility of sexual abuse, but also to take away a sense of shame about their bodies. It's a touchy subject to deal with.

But just because their bodies are maturing faster and earlier, doesn't necessarily mean their minds are. Developmentally speaking, children are usually able to undestand and accept certain concepts or responsibilities at certain ages. Just because a 10 year old can physically have a child, doesn't mean they are mentally or emotionally prepared for it.

I dunno...alot of 25 year olds aren't mentally or emotionally prepared to have children either. Whenever I see a topic like this, I think back to my great grandmother and generations before her. She was married and started having the first of her children at 13 years old...and that wasn't uncommon or looked down upon in that day and age in the Ukraine. Generations before that we pretty much the same...puberty would often mean being married and having children. Now, it's not that I am advocating for this in todays society...but more pointing out that sex, sexuality, maturity, etc is all relative...and often the perspective of the person analyzing does not correspond with the realities of it. Is that even what I want to say? I dunno...something like that anyway.

Who knows...evolution I'm thinking...we are constantly changing, our species is constantly evolving...this may be another evolutionary step.

A lot of concern surrounds the toxins in our environment, and in particular the hormones that we are plugging into animals. This early hormonal exposure in young children is not only leading to earlier development but is thought to be contributing to increased cancers such as breast cancer.

It is an intriguing situation. Hopefully it doesn't mean that here you have two sex-mad preteens who might be a danger to themselves and the community. Regardless, I guess we should put up posters within two miles of the school warning visitors of the possible danger. The public should be warned..

Sex education depends on the PARENTS.

Schools can offer it, but the parents MUST validate the course to be taught.

Big contreversy awhile back about a "different lifesyles" video that had gay couples and was shown to KIDS in grade 2 and 3. Parents want their kids to be kids as long as possible and not be learning of gay parents... same thing with gays being openly romantic, that PO's alot of parents.

Basically parents want their kids to be kids (and innocent) for as long as possible. That has to be respected and understood.

I don't think sex ed. is really needed that much. When I hit puberty I developed and learned everything by means of everyday media, and by the time we had sex ed classes in Gr. 9 it was pretty boring and pointless.

MOST kids learn all this stuff on their own..

BTW snfu, sexually experimenting shouldn't be done in school... do it outside of school.

BTW what is the age of consent in the USA.... can 6th graders legally have sex?
