T.O. neonatal unit shut after infection kills baby

The neonatal intensive care unit at a downtown Toronto hospital has been shut down after a premature baby died from a highly feared bacterial infection, according to a newspaper report.

I used to work in this unit. I have a lot of respect for the nurses and docs there. It is still my favorite NICU. They are being very aggressive with infection control. We have kids here test positive for serratia fairly often and I've never heard of any unit being closed because of it.
