Former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson is delighted as his new team Manchester City beat West Ham on the opening day of the new season


Former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson tasted victory in his first Premier League game as the new manager of Manchester City with a win over West Ham United on the first day of the new English football season.

Meanwhile Premier League new boys Sunderland, who were promoted after finning top of the Championship least season, were surprise victors against Tottenham Hotspur. This was also the first Premier League game as manager for Sunderland's Roy Keane, former Manchester United midfielder. Michael Chopra scored the goal in the last seconds of the game
