Suspect Apprehended In New Orleans Mother's Day Shooting



"CAPTURED!"

That's how the New Orleans Police Department early Thursday that its officers had "arrested 19-year-old Akein Scott in connection with the shooting of 19 people on Mother's Day."

WWNO , including a link to of Scott after he was taken into custody.

We about the surveillance video that police circulated and their appeal to the public for help in finding the suspect.

"Police say Scott opened fire on Sunday about 1:45 p.m. on the annual Mother's Day second line organized by the Original Big 7 Social Aid and Pleasure Club as the parade passed the intersection of Frenchmen and North Villere streets.

"Ten men, seven women, a boy and a girl — both 10 years old — were struck by the hail of gunfire. Three people remained hospitalized in stable to critical condition on Wednesday. The other victims had all been treated and released, officials said."

The newspaper adds that at the time of the shooting, Scott "was out of jail on a $15,000 bail that Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro said was ."

Yep. Thugs n nutbars are triggerhappy. Glad no-one was seriously injured.

What was said is this guy was out on $15,000 bail.

I would guess the judge that approved that bail is felling pretty crappy.

I really feel sorry for the Police and Judges, their hands are tied in so many ways and the laws seem to protect the guilty over the victims or citizens.

So now he'll be stuffed in a overcrowded prison and come out a carrier of several untreatable super bugs which will kill hundreds of people 8 years from now when he gets out.

I really do think that people should be screened more thoroughly before they can acquire weaponry. Obviously, having been nicked for drugs and weapons charges before, this thug should not have found it so easy to acquire more weaponry.
Just out of curiosity, has the USA repealed the 3rd-strike rule?
