Re: RE: Harper Halted

You may be right, but I am sure that when he is replaced, the replacement will be from down east. He or she may not know anything at all, but being from the east, he or she will be electable, according to the mandarins of the press and the left. What a stupid way to run a country, smear someone who actually knows what they are talking about, support a corrupt thief and crook, and elect every leader from the east. :evil:
Interesting. The thread. Does anyone remember what started it?
Blue, "the east" is where all the people are, it's where all the money is generated and Harper has no clue what he's talking about. And if you ever want to see him get elected, the last thing you want to be doing is doing what most people in "the east" think of the Prairie Christian Anti-East Alliance.

If south Ontario wants to pay into Quebec's economy, it's up to it and nothing else. It is mathematically impossible for anything else to pay into Quebec, but little Alberta does quite a lot of whining about it, while paying out a billion dollars less in taxes (the ones that matter, never to be seen again) than the City of Toronto alone pays out per annum never to be seen again.
"The east" also includes the Lower Mainland-south Vancouver Island, which isn't very keen on the prairies either (Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba). Hopefully nothing personal, just economics<->socio-economics/demographics<->marketing ... including political priorities that amount to three things at the confederate level:
- How much to tax;
- The priorities, what to spend the money on;
- Legislation and Harper has no law degree and no experience in law and hasn't managed to figure out that Canada is one of the most secular countries on the planet.
Secularism is what unites Canada and makes it quite distinct from the U.S. Harper fouled the Ontario Conservative leadership convention with a speech, as though he's a "conservative", ending with "God Bless Canada".
It was the first time in my life I had ever heard a politician in Ontario (south) even mention "god".
Secular doesn't mean atheist, it means, in practice, secularism, a gift from the gods or whichever god one has a subscription with: real separation of Church from State, "The view that religious considerations should be excluded from civil affairs and public education" and according to all polls the belief that religion has no place around civil affairs or public schools averages 14% of "Canadians" who think that religion should play a part in civil affairs/public schools -- due to which one to pick and which revision, build and patch number particularly if "christian" is picked.
Roman Catholic Christian, Anglican Christian, United Church of Canada Christian, the church that started same-sex marriage, this time around, and won because ... well go ahead and tell a church what it can and can't do, eliminating their right to disciminate based on their own beliefs and we'll be singling them out one by one, they're all minorities when singled out, and telling them ALL what they will and won't do.
Right in the "conservative" platform for the 2004 election, Harper (leader of the party, would be the PM) WROTE that he'd ignore the SUPREME COURT OF CANADA around CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS issues -- constitutional rights, just throw them out the window and he's trying to do it as head of the official critic party.
I'll get the exact quote and page number out of the "conservative" platform -- all 44 pages of it including the covers and whatnot, full of mudslinging as though Paul Martin had been the leader of the "liberals" since before Confederation.
It's a PDF, I've got it hanging around somewhere and there's nothing in it. Every paragraph starts with "Paul Martin and the Liberals..." then mudslinging -- as opposed to, oh, coming up with their own platform like every other party did, what they will do, what they stand for, not what they stand against.
And standing against the Supreme Court of Canada and Charter and sticking that in writing is why he's compared to a Nazi -- not the unspeakable part of the Nazi's but how they ended up subverting a well-educated democratic country -- with crap just like Harper and ilk write down in platforms, which is an insult to Hitler -- he was smarter.
And what makes you think that the "conservatives" are above reproach, lack corruption (the stupid advertising campaign in Quebec -- the City of Toronto paid for it a thousand times over last year alone and if it wants to bitch about it then it will -- but taxes start at the top with shares of federal debt, with scams at the bottom and Toronto city hall had a more entertaining scam last year than the constant harping of no one with any legal experience, the harper trying to pass judgement on nothing he's qualified to even comment on -- which is why Mr. Justice John Gomery, who
Chretien tried to sue to get him off the inquiry, hmmm, and Chretien FIRED Martin, but he has the title Justice for a reason.
How much has what the alleged "conservatives" have slapped the label "adscam" (scam, slander, it's totally unfounded -- and on everyone who happens to be with any party with the name Liberal on it; not that I mind around the Ontario Liberal freaks or the Quebec Liberal freaks) but the FINANCE MINISTER OF CANADA had nothing better to do than to piddle around with lunch money?
More allegations than revelations and what's up? Where
$1.9 million went. Jean Brault's "explosive testimony" over LUNCH MONEY. The City of Toronto pays out more than that every day and if Martin did have anything to do with it, I'd want him charged with incompetence for piddling around with such puny issues with a country to run and $11 THOUSAND MILLION plundered from the City of Toronto last year alone. That's worth looking into as is the $23 THOUSAND MILLION that the government of Ontario didn't get back in pittances of tax returns last year alone, that the other 9 provinces did, on average, per capita -- "transfer payments" alone.
$23 billion amounts to
$1,855.93 per capita in Ontario. Why was the government of Newfoundland and Labrador handed
$3,868.47 per capita ($2 billion is irrelevant) out of our taxes? Allowing the NL government to keep 100% of the federal oil/natural gas revenues it didn't pay a cent for is one thing, allowing it to keep 100% of the revenues with 0% being applied against equalization welfare handouts paid for entirely by south Ontario taxpayers is another, particularly when it gives the NL government over $2,000 more per capita to fund the citizens of NL than the Ontario government has to fund the citizens of Ontario, but what's with handing them
$3,868.47 per capita out of our taxes? OUR, south Ontario's taxes, not prairie taxes.
It's $48 billion in Ontario terms, $3,868.47 per capita and would only amount to the last two and a bit years of taxes south Ontario has been ripped off of in pittances of tax returns in "transfers" of its own money back to it over the last two and a bit years.
That's a scam. This whole "federation" is a scam and always has been for Ontario. And the harper's harping is pouring gas on the fires and if you'd care to discuss the economics of that; go to it. Big bad Alberta with no law enforcement other than in Calgary and Edmonton is going to do what?
And we're going to elect someone from Stampede Town, with no clue about real economics, just supply-side and a quick look at populations/markets in the "Outer Canadas" as David Kilgour calls them (Outer World, also known as the Third World, would be more appropriate) shows what supply-side economics has managed to accomplish over the last century, which Harper wants and it didn't work under Mulroney, it has done zilch for the Outer Canadas (everything outside the Inner World: the Windsor Quebec City Corridor; and it also pays 70% of all federal revenues on average) and it makes a lot more sense for success to dictate to failure than the other way around.
It's not how anything works or Ontario wouldn't be short $23 billion just in "transfers" of pittances of its own taxes back, with its almighty premier asking for $4 billion (
$322.77 per capita ... what the hell are we supposed to do with that, maybe top up flu shots) or $5 billion (
$403.46 per capita) and being told to go screw himself, no confederates would even meet with him.
But then ... Belinda Stronach said she'd be happy to take it up with "her party" with a massive marketing opportunity (and the "liberal" Toronto Star that every politician hates, Chretien in particular, published an article, "Conservatives to the rescue?") and look at how that one turned out. :twisted:
And why do all of your posts end with the twisted/evil emoticons? What's wrong with this one?
