That's very true actually, China is a HUGE beast in itself, if you look through history, this Anglo-dominance for what?, 3 hundred years has been a mere blip on what is a actually a Chinese megapower world, order will be restored shortly though.

The sleeping dragon will arise once more.

Exactly.

I know, I know, as Canadian's your probably a bit ambivalant to this, but I've just heard Michael Bolton ruining America's ntional anthem, and I couldnt help but think about the English side of the song...

Right, so my ancestors were bombing the shyte out of this particular harbour....demolishing it, so then some bright spark decides to make the biggest flag youve ever seen in your life (and I mean of football match proportions) and stick it out, just so we could see it...all the while some guy with a poetic lick writes a song about it...bases it on an english pub song of course.....

But the thing that got me thinking, was you know, EVERYTIME someone mentions blowing up somthing in america, Britain, her biggest ally, always gets a mention, for example, we're STILL the only ones to blow up the whitehouse and set fire to new york (Al-queda never came close)....now call this smugness (it's not really honest)...but doesnt it irritate you that A. most of America's songs, when not about indians or the wild west, have at least a little something to do with the old redcoats over the pond?...

it would irritate the pish out of me...."ohhh that Bin Laden's blown up another US building....no-ones done that since...ohhh our allies"!!!.

Ummm, I hate to burst your bubble, but the dudes that set fire or fire bombed the White House weren't English. The were Irish. I know an arguable point of symantics, but not if you ask an Irishman.

It's a pity you Yanks can't do the same every 4th July.

I wish all, mouthy, self righteous, smug Canadian had one quarter the amount of PATRIOTISM an average American has.

As borish as some Americans can be, that is not a accurate portrait of the average citizen.

Hey they earned the right to do it up right on the 4th of July, they took on the only superpower of the time and woopped ass.

God Bless America

Gonso rather childish rebuttal.

CDNBear I agree with you, I'm one of those who don't blame the US for every sad event in my life nor do I blame the US for all the problems of the world.

Was Victoria, now Ottawa
I don't blame the US for all the worlds’ problems. American foreign policy has done some damage though. Look at America's involvement in Nicaragua. Or the fact that their foreign policy is making the world more dangerous.

First Canadians are as much an American, as Mexican, Brazilian or yankee doodle considering we are all living in an 'american continent. Be that as it may, the majority of yankee doodles are not only 'borish', ther are arrogant and egotistical.

Err, they woopped ass on 9-11?
What did they do on July 4?? Shoot a couple of flares in the air and wave a shoeshine rag??
Give me a brake.

What you need is a catscan, not a brake (and that's break btw). And the majority of Americans aren't "borish" (and that's boorish btw) arrogant and egotistical, you must have been thinking about your own traits when typing.

As for Canadians, Mexicans and Brazilians being American, all I cant tell you is pickup a history book, you'd be surprised how much one can learn from reading.

And we didn't whoop ass on 9/11, we got caught with our pants down, feeling all warm and fuzzy yet?

You cannot comprehend what we did on July 4th, perhaps your Head of State across the Atlantic can fill you in.

Yeah Yeah ....what blacklettuce said....

Just don't spend a lot of time talking to people from India or Africa or Australia who've experienced the tender mercise of the British Empire.... or well let's put it this way...

No nation on earth has sacrificed more people to its arrogance than the English.

Nope, they certainly were British, war of 1812 my man. Surely you know this?, it was in response to the US burning down St John's (Toronto). Everyone knows this, supposedly the reason the whitehouse is white is the colour of the paint used to hide the black smoke marks....although even I think the paint bit is a lie.

They wer'nt Irish my man. The Irish have a lot of very famous points in history to claim. But not that, it was a british regement who MARCHED down from Canada and promptly attempted to burn down the whitehouse, but the rain interfeared, prompting the Americans to think it was an act of god.

Bloody weather!!!.

I actually HAVE, The British Empire wasn't as bad as some would lead you to think, sure they needed their freedom from us. BUT a lot of countries will actually tell you they were better off under the British, that's why they stay in the commonwealth of nations.

If you actually read the history of the war of 1812, you will find that there were a lot of Canadians on that march to the whitehouse as well.

They certainly were Irish my friend, just because one history book from high school said British, does not make it the truth. They were an Irish contingent. Some scholars fail to see the significance or differences between British Troops and their conscripts, but in some history books the truth has prevailed.

Move to America so you can suck up to them all you want. You can do it in person, not on a canadian forum. You'd be in heaven.

I'm not sucking up to the American's as much as your a** is sucking air.

You and your pussy liberal views would do well in Afghanistan, try moving there and spreading your thoughs around a mine field.

I have no idea where you came up with the 9/11 context, but as for the US wooping a superpowers ass. They most certainly did boot Britian right in the hoop.

American's aren't rude or arrogant or ignorant, you are. American foriegn policy is the most ignorant thing on the planet. It smacks of Imperialism and "Manifest Destiny". But American's in general are nice people. It's people that spew off all the time with retohric and bigotry, that if was said about any of the races, would get them swarmed, that are boorish and ignorant.

1. I am actually English so I haven't read any "high school books" because High school generally doesn't exsist in England.

2. The former colonials (.i.e. those slave traders and wealthy traders) and a union of pretty much every European nation forced Britain to the northern reaches of north America. To beat someone you have to beat them completly, Britain were NEVER beaten soley by the former British colonialists.

3. I am fully aware the irish regiment of the BRITISH north american expeditionary force was used to march down and burn the white house. BUT it was STILL British then. Do not let current events cloud you.

So nope, I know who burned down the white house and they were British. And how can you ever generalise Americans by saying they are "all rude"?....that's just stupid

Typical Imperialist British arrogance, ask an Irashman or a Scotsman if they are now or ever have been "British". The regiment in question were conscripts, therefore in servitude to the magesty of the day, against their wishes. Therefore in there minds and in the minds of those whom can understand their position, they were Irish.

Dont throw that imperialist BS at me, my mother is from Ireland, my father's family are generally from scotland. They were following the orders of generals who generally came from England, or perhaps scotland.

Dont call me names, or suggest I'm an imperialist. You dont know me...you obviously neither know history.
