Forty-three years after her death on August 5th, 1962, district attorney, John Miner, released his extensive transcripts of conversations between Marilyn Monroe and her psychiatrist, Dr. Ralph Greenson.

During investigations into Monroe’s death Dr. Greenson had agreed to play the tapes for Miner, but only on condition that the investigator never reveal their contents.

"You are the only person who will ever know the most private, the most secret thoughts of Marilyn Monroe," she was quoted by Greenson as saying, according to Miner's transcript. "I have absolute confidence and trust you will never reveal to a living soul what I say to you."

Sorry, Norman Jean, I guess that's just another brick in the wall.

Peapod's secrets for sale

Okay, shallow boneheads - Want to know what that hammock is really for? Want to know what really goes on around that birdbath? Just who is that yellow catsuited person lurking amongst the hostas? All will be revealed, if the price is right.

This is more than the ususal twaddle, as it involves doctor-patient privilege which was overcome by legal necessity under a promise of being a sealed record. Then these legal guarantees of privacy were betrayed.

Perhaps the public’s right to obsess over the private details of a movie’s stars life take precedence in the world of tell-all journalism, or perhaps one loses the right to the consideration that is due to a human being after they have died.

Certainly, one or both of those considerations have broken the seals on private documents which should never have been revealed — covered as they were by two sacrosanct promises of privacy.

"You are the only person who will ever know the most private, the most secret thoughts of Marilyn Monroe," she was quoted by Greenson as saying, according to Miner's transcript. "I have absolute confidence and trust you will never reveal to a living soul what I say to you."

Perhaps, in the light of contemporary trash journalism’s business-at-any-price ethics, that comment is childishly naive, even foolish.

But it shouldn’t be!

On second reading, I see that perhaps I worded that wrong, it sounds like I a calling his post twaddle, when in fact what I was trying to say was if anyone reads it, thats what gives it life, therefore the twaddle in my estimate...mmmmmmm every time the guy next store lights up a big fattie...it waifs on over here to my open window.....yes I can see it right now...snaking his way over here...hence the reason for my apology...I feel somewhat mellow now... :? :? :?

Blah. I have quite enough good books to be getting on with, thank you very much. As I've said; all the Java in Java would not be enough to make me spill even a single bean. (Besides, mom wouldn't know a good book if one fell out of Erich van Daneken's chariot and hit him on his bio-chip   )
