A transgender-looking cashier bursts into tears after dealing with a rude customer who called he/ her a bitch and told he/ her to kill himself.

I just missed the altercation but the next cashier I went to told me what happened.

Me: Is everything okay? That clerk just went running into the back in tears!

Cashier: "A rude customer called her a bitch and told her to kill himself.

Me: "I wish I heard the guy say that…he’d be in the parking lot bleeding right now.

Cashier: "(Smiling) Um…we don’t do that here.

I’m going to give the transgender person a nice hello and a pep talk next time I see him/ her. I’ll give the person my ‘You won’t care when you are 30, so why not start now’ speech that I always gave to my 2 girls.

I was a very good hockey player growing up here in Canada.

Hence, other opposing players would threaten me all of the time. I had my nose rearranged on more than one occasion.

But I just know a good ole Canadian hockey player wouldn’t stand for this type of verbal abuse against a marginalized person. I seriously would have clocked that guy and dealt with the consequences at a later date.

So someone, out of no where, tells someone else they are a bitch and they should go kill them self?

Like, the cashier gave them their change at the till and the person just said thank you and oh, by the way, you're a b*tch and you should go kill yourself?

Yes. The guy was obviously anti-transgender and took out his hate on the cashier.

What the Cluck?

Why would I make up such a scenario? I wasn't a hero or anything...just wanted to belt some bigot blowhard.

I'm going back to the Beer Store actually, to talk to this cashier and give him/ her my best wishes. The altercation has been bothering me all afternoon.

For what it's worth, thank you for wanting to help make this moment for them better.

Trans people deal with this too often.

perhaps the cashier would have handled the situation better if the correct pronouns were used. ;)
