When Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin in which she depicted the evils of slavery, there arose a counter movement of writings from slavery apologists:

Interestingly the writer Mary Eastman was (like her husband) very sympathetic towards Native Americans from Gopherland and throughout much of the USA. Strangely she held firm to her southern roots and remained hostile towards blacks all her life.

It's amazing what the brain will do, if allowed to, to protect itself from guilt. Imagine hating a entire ethnic group people so much that you believe they are only worthy of being slaves.

After a couple of beers I could no longer ignore the whimpering for my attention wafting from the freezer. I only had a few spoonfulls, I may get cake in the morning. I may trangress in the worst of hedonistic delight on the morrow.
