Am I the only one who finds this pretty normal teenage behaviour? Don't confuse that with excusing it, allowing it, or encouraging it, but it's pretty normal from a human historical and developmental perspective. Adult convictions are unnecessary once the adrenaline stops flowing. You've got kids locked in close proximity with one another, day in day out, regardless of how their personalities mesh, at a volatile time in their development.... they fight.

It probably does happen a lot. In that way sure, its normal. But as you also say that isnt an excuse and should not mean we should brush it aside and allow it. Taking turns beating up a kid several years younger - I dont think Id call that normal.

Thats crazy. Well beyond "boys being boys." I hope they are charged.

Personally, the whole notion of 'boys being boys' drives me nuts. As teens are developing into adults, there are certain behaviours that we know will happen, but shouldn't. They should come with consequences, regardless of gender. The only way for people to truly develop into responsible adults is for them to start facing consequences for their decision making.

Yep, pure punkism. I agree with those Fox editorialists; the punks beating on the kid should be in adult court.

My problem with that idea has always been consistency. If you want to charge 15 year olds as adults, fine, but let them vote and have all of the rights that come along with being an adult - not just the unpleasant parts.

Normal behaviour gang kicking and stomping someone who is down..... as opposed to..............piling on a poster in a forum8O.....hmmmmm

Yeah, they're pretty similar. So, why would you want one to be ignored while the other one warrants a president's attention in your mind?

The beaten kid is 9, not a teen. In my day it was one-on-one, though, and most kids didn't have a hairyfit and start stabbing, collect a group of friends and pound the pee outta the namecaller, etc. if someone called them four-eyes, or fatso, or whatever. And kids back then fought til one gave up and then they avoided each other for a while and the whole thing disappeared in a couple days. I ignored most of the dissing I got and was only in two fights in elem. school. I didn't commit suicide either.

I don't think history supports that point of view. When I was young I went to a very crowded school. We were literally on top of each other. We rode the damn school bus together. We ate our lunches together. I won't say there wasn't fights but never anything like that. That kid could just as easily have been killed. There was a sense of fair play that is missing today.

Trayvon Martin did remind the president of a son if he had one
Would anyone have appreciated GW saying that a white kid killed in self defence reminded him of a son ???
And you can't see the double standard?
As o'reilley says.....You can have the last word;-)

I read 13.

Anyway, my dad got jumped as a teen by a few guys. My husband got jumped by five. There aren't videos of it though. I think that's the only real difference.

Oh.... so you're making it a race issue. Thanks for spelling it out clearly instead of couching your implications like you usually do.

As I said initially... there's no double standard, as no one's trying to excuse the beating.

Why were the three aggressors beating the victim?
because all of these kids are already having issues and are attending drop out prevention sessions...the thirteen year old was approached by one of the 15 year old kids who attempted to sell him drugs. He told.

I'm sorry to hear that. :( I'm glad they are ok. :) when ever I've been jumped by punks I'm always glad that I wasn't rear ended.
