Russia in color, a century ago

Photographs like this always make me wonder how Russia would have turned out had the First World War not made possible the Bolshevik takeover in 1917. I expect that modern day Russia would be quite different if it had not been subjected to 60 years of Communist tyranny and incompetence. Several generations were lost in the rise and fall of the USSR and the world and Russia did not become better for it.
