:\ Hey everybody!...
This is my first post...and it might sound like an odd first post...
I'm in the process of preparing to make an animated film about the Toronto-based rock band Rush. The film is going to be called 'The Best I Can'. It covers their early years {so 1970 through late 1973} and covers the period where John Rutsey was with them full-time. Central to this story is Rutsey's friendship with Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson. I'm just getting to know Rush as a music group. And I find them an inspiration. Some lines that stuck with me {from the song 'The Best I Can'}:
Got my sights on the stars
Won't get that far
But I will try anyway
and...
rtra
I'll just give it a try
Won't let good times pass me by
They're all I've got
This is a tribute to the group and I want to do it right. So here's why I say that this is going to be an "odd" first post. I am trying to locate someone who may have remembered John Rutsey {other than Lee and Lifeson themselves} and might be able to tell me a little bit about him. I'm not going on a witch hunt {just to make that clear} and I'm not looking for dirty laundry either. I'm basically an artist with an undersketch and I want to create a portrait rather than a characature...
In terms of finding someone who knew Rutsey, I don't know if anyone else on this forum would have known of him {other than the fact that he was with Rush in their early days}. But I'm wondering if anyone here would know where to start a search...
Get back to me on this,
Thank you,
Freebird
PS: Below is a photo of John Rutsey from when he was with Rush full-time:
PPS: Sorry for the larger font...sight-impaired. :\
