The Royal Navy's new Astute-class nuclear submarine HMS Anson has arrived in the western Australian city of Perth.

The visit of the British submarine to Australia is part of the AUKUS defence pact between the three great allies Australia, UK and US.

The British and Americans are helping the Australians to build their first nuclear submarines. Anson is also there to help two Australian Navy officers gain operational experience onboard such a vessel.

Scheduled to begin in 2027 and rotating each year, Britain and America are to deploy submarines to the state of Western Australia each year to provide security to Australia.

After Anson arrived in Perth, however, both Australia and Britain expressed concerns that the vessel was being watched by the Chinese...

The friendly submarine is there to train Australian naval personnel in how to maintain nuclear submarines.

The British and Americans are also sharing their technology with the Australians in order for the Aussies to also construct their own nuclear submarines.

From next year, there will be at least one British or American submarine off Australia's coast as part of the country's defence.

This is all part of the AUKUS pact between Britain, USA and Australia.

HMS Anson, along with her sister ships in her class, is amongst the largest, advanced and most powerful attack submarines on Earth...

I don't think it's friendly.

It looks like a living creature. Like a whale or something. It's even got a face.

As for friendly - I remember I did have a few beers last night when I posted it - the ship is friendly to Australia, but she will be deadly against any foe she may encounter in her life at sea.

If it was friendly, it would have a smiley face painted on it.

That's the rule!
