Roy Moore files lawsuit to block Alabama Senate result

Republican Roy Moore filed a lawsuit to try to stop Alabama from certifying Democrat Doug Jones as the winner of the U.S. Senate race.

The court filing occurred about 14 hours ahead of Thursday's meeting of a state canvassing board to officially declare Jones the winner of the Dec. 12 special election. Jones defeated Moore by about 20,000 votes.

Moore's attorney wrote in the complaint filed late Wednesday that he believed there were irregularities during the election and said there should be a fraud investigation and eventually a new election.

Moore's "Good old boy" club is dying off and he can'r believe he got beat by a more moderate thinker. He'll just be throwing money away.

It's the last hurrah for Trumpites. Younger generations have been less likely to vote. Donny has changed that. Had the Republicans somehow prevented Trump from hijacking the party, they would have handily won the election anyway. The lack of idiotic tweets, islamophobic silliness and pussy grabbing would have ensured the kids would have remained asleep. Given the disarray of the Democrats, the GOP would have had smooth sailing for years

One can only hope the upcoming shellacking will prompt the GOP to cleanse themselves of the social conservative nutters.

The election's done and Jones is in. But one take is that Moore has a cause and he won't submit to what he deems are the forces that will take down Western Civilization.. through the dissolution of institutions that sustain it.

He could have been a potent and positive force in the Senate, whereas Jones will be a Dem sycophant and nonentity. But Alabamans made their choice for mediocrity over passion and vision. That's democracy.

You'll have to show me where Moore said anything racist.

He usually had conservative blacks on stage with him. He did say things about a culture of abortion, homosexuality, euthanasia, promiscuity, drug addiction, lawlessness, family dissolution.. but those are all things that you do, or are done to you, not what you are.

You'd think that many of those things might be disproportionately inflicted on blacks given the state of inner cities where the family, community and work have been decimated under the current economic and social paradigm.

Maybe Doug Jones is the racist, reducing black potential by branding them as perpetual victims of white bigotry. Of promoting affirmative action and profiling them as citizens incapable of integrating and excelling on an even playing field. Sounds pretty patronizing and pretty racist to me. And ultimately it ghettoizes blacks interminably from full inclusion in society.
