But the reality is half of those tuning in want to see Tiger and that's why the have him on whenever they can. I'm not counting him out from anything at this point. He's hitting the ball as far as just about anyone else, even after just having major back surgery. Just making the cut was quite an accomplishment for the British Open.

What will be interesting is the Ryder Cup. Does he deserve to be on? Probably not. Can the golf industry afford not to have him on? Perhaps afford it but they will leave a gazillion dollars off the table if he doesn't play. Tom Watson has himself in a quandary. Surely he will get a ton of pressure off camera from Nike and TV networks (even the PGA) to have him on the team. It will take a lot of guts to keep him off.

yeah, tom watson will be forced to include him, its about money, and tv numbers, not fairness.

yeah, i agree tiger could make his way back to a completely competetive golfer, and give many of those
top players a run for their money, no one knows at this point, but i hope they don't beat it to death
and make us vomit from overexposure of a player who is on the mend, it will remind me of the sydney
crosby soap opera.

i am definitely connected to the european player now, moreso than the american, mainly because of the
media, and also because they are classy, very very talented, and the european player doesn't have to
feel like they're second any more to the u.s., and i hope they trash the u.s. in the ryder cup.
i love the respect they have now, and the u.s. have taken a step back, and realize they need to figure
this out, cause their arrogant, its all about us attitude is laughable, and maybe now they will learn
that they are scrambling, and wondering why.

and then there is china, and they are preparing to become the biggest golf country in the world a few
years down the road, as many of the american golf course architects, are making themselves zillions of
dollars building golf course after golf course, and oh yeah, they have a few people in that country
don't they, so the little kids are probably learning by the thousands right now to become world class
golfers, but their stiff, strict attitude with their children could be their downfall as well, unless
they hire north american coaches to teach them to be natural and happy in their game.

i wish tiger well, its not him who blats all over the tv and radio about himself, he is busy trying
his guts out to get back in the mix.

i don't care about watching celebrities, i care about the sport, same as hockey, i don't understand the
fan who only watches his/her own team, or the flavour of the day athlete/celebrity. i've never been
that way, its all about the sport for me, and the teams, the effort, and the game, players come and go,
but the game doesn't.
i'm watching lots of baseball right now, same thing for me, i follow the jays, but i also watch lots
of 'parts' of games, cause i love the sport, and i love the strategy and different plays made during
the game, so whatever teams are playing, i watch 'what' they do, and 'how' they do it, doesn't matter what their name is, or the logo on their uniform.

i've had to think About that statement for a day or so. it does surprise me for sure.
but then i know nothing about his upbringing and his family, and how things were with him all of those
years in northern ireland.
it disappoints me to hear that he thinks of himself as 'more' british than 'irish', but then they are all
brits right? british includes all of the british isles.

and northern ireland must be a real mish mash of both irish and english supporters, and also he might
just want to make sure he is on the stronger team, and has more chance to win, which would be the case
playing with the english.

Why does it surprise you? Northern Ireland is part of the UK, not part of the Irish Republic, which is a completely different and foreign country. Have you ever looked at a map?

Why? Would it disappoint you if someone from Newfoundland said they considered themselves to be more Canadian than American?

if you read my complete post, you wouldn't have to cherry pick bits and pieces and make something out of
nothing.

he is irish, not english, and if you know anything about that part of the world, you wouldn't make such
a dumb statement.

my dad was born in dublin, yes, i know something about that part of the world, you don't.

I do know anything about that part of the world. I live in the British Isles. I must know more about that part of the world than anyone on here.

And I never said he's English. I said he's British. Read more carefully.

Frankly Golf is one of many new sports that do not belong in the Olympics.

I'd include Tennis, Soccer.. which both have separate, established international Championships of more prestige than the Olympics can ever provide. And the X Game Sports.. which are contrived and generally boring to watch.. but are solely intended to bring in a young viewing audience.

You could make a case that the Only Sports in the Summer Olympics should be individual sports in athletics and aquatics and their extensions (in 'relay' or 'crew' sports). And those that can be won by objective measurements (time, distance, height).. rather the subjective artistic merit.

As it stands the Cost of Olympics put them beyond the financial means of all except a handful of First World Nations. And they continue to grow on a geomtric scale.

i firstly said he is british, read carefully, you would have been smarter 'not' to reply, you
have stuck your foot in your mouth again, and for someone who lives there, you know very little.
all of the british isles is british.
