TORONTO - It sure beats gravy packets.
Mayor Rob Ford left behind a parting gift for Mayor John Tory — a final pitch for subways.
On Monday, Tory showed off the vintage TTC poster promoting subways that Ford left behind in the mayor’s office.
“The subway is the best way ... today, everyday,” read the poster.
Ford spent most of his term advocating for “subways, subways, subways” and lamenting LRTs. He signed the poster “Best wishes!”
“It was very nice,” Tory told reporters when he showed off the gift. “Of course, I’m going to keep it.”
When Ford moved into the mayor’s office in 2010 to replace David Miller, his staff found gravy packets had been left in the desks. That was a not-so-subtle nod to Ford’s campaign promise to “stop the gravy train” at City Hall.
