No - it is not. I read the article as a "trial" rather than paying attention to what it really was. It was a disciplinary hearing. Quite different and not open to the public. In reality, no different than a time when anyone's boss takes them aside and chastises them for some wrong doing. Victim Impact Statments are for trials. There was no judicial decision taking place at this hearing.

And that is the problem within the RCMP - Max suspension is either 5 or 10 days - after that it is removal from the force.
Not much in between -

And no oversight - pardon me - the oversight is a joke. And that is not only my pinion but some former RCMP Officers who a close friends.

We should be clear, the RCMP is most of Canada is doing a good job all in all. In BC that is a
matter to be questioned. There are cases of total abuse in this Province and we should be
investigating them more in depth. There are cases of officers being drunk and involved in
auto accidents. The same officer that killed the guy from Poland. Then there is the man who
was killed in a police cell, ruled self defence, problem is the dead man was shot in the back of
the head.
There have been more than one offence in the Interior of BC, like the guy who was kicked in the
face in Kelowna, then it turns out this same officer was involved in other incidents with unnecessary
violence. There was an old man punched in the face by a Mountie in Kelowna for parking in the
street while his wife delivered papers, turns our, had the officer listened the man had a permit to
do what he was doing. The list is endless in this Province.
Now, before everyone gets their shirt in a knot there are some other things to consider here.
The RCMP have done a number of things right as well. We as a society in BC should be looking
to solve the present problems before we just make a massive and very expensive change for
the sake of change. Yes the government and police are both under pressure but keeping a
cool head is the first order of business for someone or people in a leadership position.
It should also be remember that more than four decades ago we had a Provincial Police Force
that many said was corrupt or beyond the point of repair and we opted for the RCMP. Does this
mean we don't fix our problems we just change uniforms every fifty years? I for one do not see
the need to start over with a new force or just accept the antics of the present one.
We need to have civilian oversight to ensure the present force is responsive to the requirements
of the citizens of BC after all we are collectively paying the bill. We also need to understand
the pressure the current force is under and is often not funded to the level required to do the
job they are being asked to do.
As yourself, How many things stick in your mind that the police did wrong in the past few years?
Now how many good things do you remember the police doing in your community in the past few
years?
If you can't think of anything, perhaps you should ask yourself, who All needs an attitude adjustment.
I personally can think of three or four things they did that made a difference.

You hear about the women who was punched out by an RCMP in Williams Lake? Williams lake is a ****ed up area, even if she was already hand cuffed and in the back of the cruiser id probally punch her too..

But honestly if the RCMP want to make a difference in the province they should all be sent to Prince George and gut out that **** hole lol... Honest to god i was there like 5 days ago, and some guy came into the Days inn with his stomach cut open..... And you guys thought i was ****ed up for being from sudbury!!!

British Columbia needs all the help it can get and you guys dont have enough RCMP here.!!!
