Roy is a classic NDPer, Toro. The Romanow Report is what can save health care in this country. He's also married to my father's second cousin, so I've met a him few times. Don't you dare to try to claim him as one of yours, he's simply the one who cleaned up the mess you made.

When the NDP left office, the province was in the black. The Conservatives promised tax cuts, including doing away with purple gas, and spent like drunken sailors. They sold off the province's assets to their friends at fire sale prices. They made bad investment after bad investment. The lied, they cheated, and they stole.

Some of them went to jail in the end...something you ignored in your answer. Petty thievery, mostly. It was really for arrogance and stupidity though.

That same arrogance and stupidity is what almost bankrupted the province.

The BC NDP were doing their best to compete with Clark on trial, with the former cabinet minister groping all his aids, with the fundraiser in Nanaimo stealing from charities, with Moe Sihota leaving, etc. The NDP in BC got spanked worse than the Tories did in Saskatchewan.

Romanow is a moron. Reverend blair should answer my question about his mythological 80/20, 70/30 comment about private/public health in canada and france

Look at the Conservatives. One is trying to divert attention away from the fact that Devine was corrupt and inept. The other one is yarking about something completely unrelated to the conversation.

RE: Question for Albertan

BC politics have always been like that. I don't remember a government there not ending in scandal, do you? You might remember that the ex-Premier was aquitted by the courts though. Members of the Devine government went to prison.

I believe the fundraiser and the groper went to prison in BC went to prison, though I may be wrong on that. But whether or not others in BC did is not an excuse. (Mike Harcourt was a pretty good guy. He was pushed out by the hardcore.) And remember that there was an NDP MLA who was convicted of those petty crimes you referenced. I believe he was the MLA from Humboldt and I think he too did some time.

Sure, and in Saskatchewan, the Tories, er, the Saskatchewan Party came within a seat of winning. Its cyclical.

Also, I didn't think skimming from charities was trite. Why did Mo Sihota resign? I forget.

The Tories in Saskatchewan have been out of power for how many terms, Toro? Not exactly the same situation as in BC at all...especially considering that the political dynamic is completely different.

Of course its different. Everything is different. The Sask Tories were worse than the BC NDP. But the point is that no one party has a monopoly on competence or incompetence.
