It isn't that cheap, unless you plunk one in your back yard. lol Most moose hunters drive quite a ways to get one, spend a fair bit on tags, license, etc.
But taste-wise, moose is to beef like sockeye is to squawfish. My chompers are in good shape. Elk is a pretty good match for moose, too.The dryness is fixable as is the toughness if you need to. I've had some pretty tough beef in my time, too.
Anyway, another potluck item that we tote around is chili. Most people seem to like it, but we usually tame ours down a little if other people will be eating it.

The only thing I will eat from a moose is ground meat, which I can mix with lots of
'things' to make the flavour better, and the only thing I will eat from a deer is the
liver, it's delicious, but I can't stand any other part.
I love beef, I like pork, and some fish, but not much, halibut, a bit of salmon, caught fresh,(sockeye), and prawns. We have given away hundreds of salmon,
over the years,
as my husband has been sport fishing since he was about 12, and is very good
at it, but we get tired of salmon quickly.
I won't eat it unless it's very fresh, hasn't been frozen, flavour changes radically, and it doesn't matter what method is used. Same with halibut, only
fresh caught.
I have been buying fresh halibut, barbecue it in a rack, with different sorts of
coatings, delicious.
