Vancouver Sun Poll Question :

The Mounties' reputation has taken a body blow, judging by the hundreds of responses we received to Thursday's Opinion web poll question, "Will you take RCMP officers at their word in the future?" Nearly all of you -- 95.53 per cent -- said no, in light of the revelations at the inquiry into the 2007 death of Robert Dziekanski at Vancouver International Airport. Only 4.47 per cent said they will trust Mounties in the future.

What about you .....my forum friends .

Ya, I found a rotten apple in a bushel basket I bought, so I won't buy them anymore...

Just because someone lied, doesn't mean anyone that wears the same uniform is a liar too.

Just because Polish people ratted out their neighbours to the Stasi, doesn't mean they all will...

My Father is ex RCMP China. Does this make me a liar?

Does your Nationality make you a Stasi rat?

Yes and no. There's a couple of cops I know that I would take their word, as I trust them. Otherwise it depends on what the matter is. I think a person would have to be naive just to blithely take the word on an important matter from some stranger in a uniform who shows up at your door. Sometimes you meet people who you instinctlvely trust and others you don't. That's where judgment and common sense come in.

I don't think cops are much different from other professionals, which in the vast majority of circumstances you can trust. You just have to keep an open mind and use common sense and REMEMBER there's an exception to every rule.
