Politically-correct zombies zap Halloween

There’s a new kind of zombie prowling streets and schoolyards this Halloween — the politically correct.
One mommy blogger unleashed her first-world woes on raceconscious.org and her absurd agonizing was picked up by the New York Post.
Sachi Feris wrote that her five-year-old daughter decided — like many others — she wanted to be Disney character, Moana, a Polynesian heroine.
But killjoy Feris worried that would be “cultural appropriation.” Second choice would be Scandinavian hellion, Elsa from Frozen.
“I had some reservations regarding both costume choices ... about cultural appropriation and the power/privilege carried by Whiteness, and about Whiteness and standards of beauty,” Feris wrote.
Her daughter instead decided to go as Elsa.
Whoops! Feris fretted that might teach the little girl that you have to be white, blue-eyed and blond to be a princess. And so, in the end, it was Mickey Mouse.
“We don’t have to worry about making fun of anyone or dressing up as a culture different from our own because Mickey Mouse is a pretend mouse!
“One thing is for sure, our discussions around appropriate and inappropriate Halloween costumes will continue,” concluded Feris.
Commenters LOVED it.
A New York mother told The Post, she wasn’t buying: “I think it’s silly to take children’s Halloween costumes so seriously. They’re kids, can’t they just be kids and not involved with the whole political correctness thing?
“Parents need to chill out a little bit.”

Tutt, tutt, tutt,

Dress the children up in bubble wrap for Halloween, lest they feel something.

That reads like a parody.
