The Inside Story: New leads emerge in 1985 disappearance of Nicole Morin

Police have new information they say could help them find an eight-year-old girl who went missing in Toronto almost three decades ago.
On July 30, 1985, Nicole Morin left her apartment to go swimming with a friend and that was the last her family saw of her.
“Things that we’re looking into make me believe that there is a good possibility that we could find her and figure out where she is,” said Det.-Const. Kim Litster-MacLeod.
“The tips that we’ve gotten recently lead us to believe that there are certain areas that we should looking at.”
Nicole’s father Art Morin shares Litster-MacLeod’s optimism and still believes she’s alive.
Nicole’s mother, who passed away in 2007, had a child from a previous marriage taken from her by the boy’s father. Fifteen years later, her son showed up at her door.
“So why shouldn’t I believe that the same thing could happen with Nicole,” Art Morin said.
“I just remain hopeful that whatever happens, that Nicole is OK and one day we will reconnect. Probably, if she’s alive, she’s got that hope too.”
Police have cleared all family members and acquaintances of playing a role in her disappearance.

Wow. 29 years, I can't fathom having that hanging over you, not knowing the fate of your child, for that length of time. Sometimes I think the only thing worse than having your child die is to never know what really happened to them.

I remember when it happened ... and I just couldn't shake the surname from thoughts from another case around the same time - Christine Jessop and the accused (later exonerated) Guy Paul Morin
