Five dogs were shot dead by armed police in the centre of my hometown this morning after they attacked a group of people:

A 60-year-old woman and a man were injured after five 'pit bull-like' dogs who were 'dangerously out of control' attacked a group of people in Bolton, Manchester, on Sunday morning. Dramatic footage shows police arriving on scene and shooting at the dogs from close range. People hiding in a nearby property gasped as police shot at the dogs, one of which was seen running towards officers. It is believed that police officers are still searching for one injured dog, and that they killed two others and seized an additional two. A man was arrested by police following the incident, but he has yet to be publicly identified.
