Hey Nugg!

My but you're looking ravishing today...

David Chambers has had an on-going dialogue with several well known western philosopers, Danel Dennet, Patricia Churchland ...and so on... The argument arises around the issue of what exactly constitutes "consciousness". This little tempest in a teapot has been going on since the 90's and for those interested in the esoterica of philosophy it's kind of interesting..... My fave has been the responses writtten by the Churchlands (Patty and Paul to the jabs and counters produced by Dennet and Chambers....

I'm fairly famiiar with this line of reasoning and when my blood pressure is really really low and I go without food for a day or two....I can make sense of some of it....

Unfortunately it's a device used by academicians of the entrepreneurial spirit to flog books and sell papers.... I suppose philosophers have to eat too....

That in itself could possibly be construed as a philosophical question.

Not being much of a philosopher myself (leaving that to those more erudite than I), I just thought that article might be of interest to some who frequent these threads, but find anyone's opinion but their own to be of lesser value. (not thou of course)

Course then , it will never be read by those for whom it was intended.

Don't be so hard on yourself!

There are some very interesting thought experiments and notions presented by Chambers and all the other folk involved in this scramble... The only thing is that..for one to get-in-on the dialogue and make sense of what's being talked-about...requires a great deal of research into micro-biology, theories of consciousness and the fundamental structures of philosophical thought.....

Very dry.
