Palin’s clothes bill wearing on McCain - Nova Scotia News - TheChronicleHerald.ca

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Presidential candidate John McCain isn’t happy about having to explain why the Republican party has had to buy running mate Sarah Palin US$150,000 in clothes, hair styling and accessories.

McCain was asked several questions on Thursday about the shopping spree — and he answered each one more or less the same way: Palin needed clothes and they’ll be donated to charity.

"She needed clothes at the time. They’ll be donated at the end of this campaign. They’ll be donated to charity," McCain told reporters on his campaign bus between Florida rallies.

Asked for details on how they’ll be donated, McCain said: "It works by her getting some clothes when she was made the nominee of the party and it will be donated back to charity."

Asked if he was surprised at the amount spent, McCain said: "It works that the clothes will be donated to charity. Nothing surprises me."

McCain offered no further comment, except to say that the Republican National Committee doesn’t buy his clothes.

News of the purchases, largely from upscale Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, contrasts with the image Palin has crafted as a typical hockey mom.

Jeez, could you be anymore vauge on your views of this situation? Could you be anymore vauge on how the costs will be balanced out?

No wonder why the Republican party seems short on money..... Palin's going on a fk'n shopping spree for herself.... should be interesting to see how she handles the country's money if she wins.

Oh yeah and she's also been investigated for how she managed money as governor where she blew money on trips for her kids to places they were never invited to, etc.

Old habbits are hard to kill I guess.

Oh yeah, that's why so many are focusing more on Palin then McCain recently.... they already know he's screwed up in the head, supports Bush and overall is a bad choice, but then you have the nightmare of having Palin as the US President..... jesus, I'd rather H. Clinton.... at least she had some brains.

Actually, I think that's the difference between the Democrats and Republicans..... Democrats have brains and use them, and the Republicans don't and resort to fearmongering and ignorance.

Donated to charity.

Of course - the Republican answer to 'spreading the wealth around' - upgrading the wardrobes of the poor and the homeless. Who needs to eat when they're dressed in a high priced power suit?

Good point, but I also have a feeling that they won't go to charity.... she'll just keep them... it just sounded like a quick answer to make it all blow over until everybody forgets.

After the election, check it out and see if they actually donate them to charity..... I bet you they don't ;-)
