Missiles can only fly "hypersonic" very high up in the atmosphere, as they get red hot flying fast in the dense atmosphere down here near sea level. So much for stealth, having to fly an arc up to 30,000 feet. You would see it immediately and by the time it re-enters and slows down, so that it can fly at sea level, everybody in Christendom knows exactly where it is and where it's going. It will still be supersonic but it will have long since unzipped it's fly and it will be travelling too fast to track any course changes made by the target vessel.
What a waste of time and money.
Obviously good propaganda value, though!

There's a whole list of reasons why most anti-ship missiles are sub-sonic. They can change course mid-flight, for one.
