What's a Conservative to do.........?

Patrick Brown says he will support an anti-Islamophobia motion that a Liberal MPP plans to introduce in the provincial legislature on Thursday.

Brown said Tuesday that Islamophobia has no place in Ontario.

"Whether it's hate against any faith, it's wrong. I will always stand in opposition to any form of hate," Brown told reporters at Queen's Park.

He said he is going to encourage members of the Ontario PC caucus to support the motion as well. The caucus is scheduled to meet on Tuesday.

"I think it's pretty straightforward to condemn any form of hate. In terms of Islamophobia, it is real," Brown said.

Liberal MPP Nathalie Des Rosiers, who represents Ottawa-Vanier, has said she will introduce a motion this week calling on the legislature to condemn all forms of Islamophobia.

Well when you try to please everybody, you end up pleasing nobody. We have no clue where he actually stands on a number of things.

His rural God fearing klan won't be happy and may just sit out the next election.......

Ontario
I met him a number of times over the years as he tried, unsuccessfully at first, to run for mayor of Barrie, and later secure a seat at Queen's Park. My first meeting with him was at a Tim Horton's in Barrie, ON, just off the 400 highway. He was talking with people coming in for coffee and handing out brochures. He agreed with whatever the customers said. I personally heard him contradict what he said to other patrons while we were waiting to get our coffee.

I am a card carrying Conservative. He is not a Conservative, or anything else. He is all about himself. He contradicts, but rarely presents alternative solutions. He's another in a line of Conservative leadership screw ups that, in large measure, kept the Liberals in power in Ontario, virtually unopposed.

Barring Brown opening his mouth and saying something truly stupid, the Liberals will defeat themselves. It would not surprise me if the NDP were to slide up the middle and replace Wynne.

Brown is a putz.

Yes, you just described Harper.
I would not put Harper in the same category as Brown. Harper was not a flip-flopper too often without good reason to do so.

Brown has flip-flopped so many times the Libs will nail him as untrustworthy, which I think Murphy experienced first hand.

I think the Ontario Cons really missed a golden opportunity for themselves by not electing Christen Elliott and I'm baffled as too why they didn't.......

Anti-Islamophobia motion passes

With ease.

Anti-Islamophobia motion passes in Ontario Legislature

A Liberal backbencher who introduced an anti-Islamophobia motion that unanimously passed the Ontario legislature Thursday says, despite all-party support, she has received racist backlash.

The motion from Nathalie Des Rosiers called on the legislature to "stand against all forms of hatred, hostility, prejudice, racism and intolerance," rebuke a "growing tide of anti-Muslim rhetoric and sentiments" and condemn all forms of Islamophobia.

It passed as the federal government weighs a similar motion that has sparked controversy in the House of Commons and beyond.

It should have been an Anti-Islamophobia, Anti-Semitism motion but a lot of Muslims would never agree to that.

Betrayal to Canadians, who's voice is not longer important or relevant to this Government. It's a stupid, ill written motion!!

Singling out a single ethnic group like that for special treatment like that is utterly un-Canadian (excepting the exception that we currently make for First Nations people).

We already have "hate laws". Muslims are no better, no worse than the rest of us.

I want to see an anti-Oldwhitemanophobia motion. I demand it, in fact.
