Apparently it's a crime for a man to ask a woman out for a date now in these misandrist, boy-bashing times we live in, as one of the world's top cricketers has found out.

West Indies star Chris Gayle has been fined $10,000 for the "crime" of asking a Channel 10 news reporter out to dinner
after he was dismissed during the Melbourne Renegades' clash with the Hobart Hurricanes in Australian Twenty20 cricket's Big Bash League.

Gayle, a legend in the West Indies, has since mocked the fine
with a photograph of him wearing a t-shirt reading 'SexSells'.

Controversial cricket star Chris Gayle has mocked the $10,000 fine he was hit with over 'sexist' comments he made to Channel 10 reporter Mel McLauglin, with a photograph of him wearing a t-shirt reading 'SexSells'.

The West Indian cricket star re-posted a picture with teammate Dwayne Bravo about 7pm on Tuesday, which appears he took recently in Sydney, along with the caption: 'Pockets are empty so @djbravo47 paying the dinner bill tonight ... Let's roll DJ. #Champion.'

The black shirt also featured a gold Playboy bunny across the chest.

Chris Gayle re-posted this picture to social media hours after he was fined for 'sexist' comments during an interview, which shows him wearing a t-shirt reading 'SexSells' and was captioned: 'Pockets are empty'.

Gayle made international headlines on Monday night during a sleazy interview with McLaughlin, after he was dismissed during the Melbourne Renegades' clash with the Hobart Hurricanes.

In the bizarre interview, the 36-year-old star started by saying he was pleased he went out because it gave him the chance to speak to McLaughlin.

'I wanted to come and have an interview with you as well, that's the reason why I'm here... to see your eyes for the first time,' Gayle said.

'Hopefully we win this game and we can have a drink after. Don't blush baby.'

Gayle was fined $10,000 and came under fire for propositioning McLaughlin during an interview on Monday night, when he said: 'Hopefully we win this game and we can have a drink after, don't blush baby'

The awkward interview was broadcast live on international TV on Monday night, after Gayle was dismissed in his match for the Melbourne Renegades

Gayle recently shared this picture on his Instagram page, which shows him topless on a boat in Sydney Harbour

After being asked about an injury he suffered, Gayle said he hoped to stay on the field for the remainder of the series, before adding: 'Hopefully I can recover and look in your eyes.'

Gayle was slammed for the controversial sideline interview. However, he described it as a 'simple joke' with no offence or disrespect intended.

'There wasn't anything meant to be disrespectful or offensive to Mel. If she felt that way, I'm really sorry for that,' Gayle told reporters on Tuesday in Melbourne.

'I wanted to come and have an interview with you as well, that's the reason why I'm here... to see your eyes for the first time,' Gayle said to McLaughlan (pictured) during the awkward interview

'There wasn't any harm meant in that particular way, to harm any particular person in any particular way like that.

'It was a simple joke - the game was going on.

'Things get out of proportion but these things happen.'

The cricketer's Instagram page offers a glimpse into his ostentatious lifestyle, including pictures of him shirtless on yachts, the mirror above his bed, lavish cars and his penchant for partying.

Was it awkward and if so for who? Did the announcer complain or the league
just fine him not enough information here to make a decision.

Did the announcer complain

No, not as far as I'm aware.

And, of course, only a man is punished for doing such a thing. A couple of years ago Maria Sharapova flirted with a male journalist during a news conference and she wasn't fined or even got into trouble. There was no hoop-la whatsoever.

Again, it's one rule for men and another for women.

I'm assuming, like most pro sports, there are code of conduct rules. Blackie just doesn't understand that

Not for female tennis stars like Maria Sharapova, apparently, who can flirt openly on television with male journalists and get away with it.

Again, women get away with it.

Maria Sharapova once flirted on TV with a male journalist and yet she wasn't fined $10,000. She got away with it - because she's a woman. I'm fed up with women being treated leniently. If they want equality then that means being treated exactly the same as men - not being treated more favourably. That's NOT equality. It seems that women only want equality when it suits them. It's the same when it comes to more serious crimes like robbery, child abuse and murder. Women get much more lenient jail terms (if, indeed, they even get jailed at all) than men for committing exactly the same crimes.

Because they are the superior gender. Males will ALWAYS dominate. Our universities today may have more girls than boys in them, but whereas the girls mainly study silly subjects like "media studies" or "education studies" or "hairdressing", the boys are mainly studying science and maths and engineering and it'll be they, not the girls, who will be the ones designing, building and inventing the world of tomorrow just as it was males who designed, built and invented the world of yesterday and the world of today.

No. She got away with because the ATP didn't have a policy. I get that you're not smart enough to understand this.

As of yet, you haven't shown how they are treated differently. Both are required to follow the rules.

No. It's because she's a woman and is therefore treated more leniently, despite this supposedly being an age of equality. Likewise, a female cricketer chatting up a male TV reporter would not have been finedf $10,000, no doubt.

Nops. It's because of the policies put in place by the sanctioning bodies. The LPGA tried to sanction golfers that couldn't speak English a few years ago. The NHL sanctions players that publicly criticize the referees. If cricket's governing body wants their players to treat media people, doing their jobs, with respect then, that is their business.

No, it's because she's a female. She'd also have got away with it had she been a female cricketer.

And that's representative of modern Western society as a whole. Whenever a man chats a woman up these days it's seen as creepy and "sexist", but when a woman chats a man up and flirts with him it's seen as nothing mopre than light-hearted, giggly girly fun.
