The comments are interesting.

I like the two retired teachers who can barely make ends meet - from what I've seen of teachers' pensions, they're better than 75% of people's, so if two teachers can't make it on their pensions, they've got to be doing something wrong.

I thought the article was fine, but the comments section was a little weird. Then again, comment sections usually are.

For the most part Canada isn't paralyzed by ideologues like the US. Is that the moral to this article and related comments?

LoL American Comment section's are the best to read.
You can tell why they are in that mess they have, just by breaking down there comments.

I just wanted to add that I still think our economy is in a slow decline, even if this,
article say's otherwise.

Interesting article. But what makes it right wing other than the fact that the writer is on the political right?

You are certainly right about the comments - some of the people writing seem to simply make up their own facts like the one who stated that 49% of Canada's GNP goes to health care.

I think the article's pretty good, and most of the comments on it--on the site the article's on, not here--are pretty ignorant. Like the one that says Canada has a socialist government, and the ones that, as my other brother Bar says, make up their own facts. It appears to me that most Americans don't know the first thing about this country and they believe the crap they've heard on Fox News.

That's what Billions of Dollars invested in brainwashing your population ends up looking like.
That brainwash is showing up in English Canada too.

Interesting article from a very conservative American on-line publication. As such, the article will probably be dismissed by the usual suspects. Just as interesting as the article, itself, are the comments.

Oh, Canada! - Salena Zito - Townhall Conservative

I found it rather telling that the author chose this example of how the US could change things.

"Perhaps we can learn from Canada’s example of developing its oil, natural gas, uranium and hydropower resources, generating jobs and improving its trade balance."

Maybe they ought to concentrate on something more to the point like having “a well-regulated banking system, which prevented banks from taking excessive risks with depositors’ money and from borrowing based on assets of dubious value,”

Fox news is available up here. You don't have to watch for very long before you see at least some of the truths in it.

So most eastern Canadians don't know anything about western Canadians because they get all their news by watching that crap on the CBC.

So, let's not worry about the Americans, let's talk about our own back yard....eh!!

I have no problem with your analogy. I said it before that Americans know about Canada as much as Mainland Canadians know about Newfoundland. But probably afford Canadians higher regard than Mainland Canadians afford Newfoundlanders.

I've seen Fox News. It IS crap.

Fox is a private company, it has no government madate, so it can put on all the crap it wants to. It only has to answer to it's privately held shareholders.

CBC on the other hand uses more than $1.1 billion of our tax money to carry out a mandate which it has failed to achieve.
