Obtaining Canadian Passport Immediately?

I read on the main canadian site for passports,(http://www.pptc.gc.ca/passports/how_obtain_e.asp)
that you can obtain them under urgent situations.
Passports - urgent applications
Note: Urgent or express services are available for emergency or compassionate reasons on a case-by-case basis. These services are available only for those applicants who can apply in person at a Passport Canada office and who provide proof to justify the urgency.

Service Turnaround Fee
Urgent next working day $70 + passport fee
Express 2 to 9 working days after receiving application $30 + passport fee

My question is, my situation, or rather, my friends situation is an urgent one. I'd rather not disclose the specifics, but how exactly do I 'justifiy/proove' this? I mean, to describe this situation as general as I can, my friend is all alone and spiraling down, so to say. It's really serious, but I have no proof except for my honest words. I am so very worried that when I go down to their main office tommorrow they will deny me this overnight option for acquiring my passport.

Does anyone have any advice? These are government officals, and my words, if that is all I can run off of, need to be specific so they don't nit pick it or find ways to stalemate me. Though they couldn't and if they tried I'd get furious if they attempted to downplay this situation(but I'd keep my cool, so they wouldn't use my anger to reject my request). I just, don't want to mess this up, and I have never truly been in contact with any governemt office, and using such a case specific request like this, I am curious to, if anything I should be prepared for. Granted, I know how to stay the line with people when I give information when I am aiming for something, I just don't want anythings popping up where I don't 'know' truly about, because that will make me fumble, and that's the last thing I need in a situation like that.

Just curious.

(sorry, I suppose this might be in the wrong forum, I wan't sure which to put it in. "leaving canada" :? opposite this forum)

Not sure what would be required Blake. I would hope that your word would be sufficient. I would try to have as much information about your friend as possible, i.e. name, address etc... Maybe line up a third party that could vouch for the situation. Assuming you are a Canadian citizen, try contacting your local MP for assistance. It's gonna vary depending who your guy is, but in my experience my MP is very reachable and willing to help.

Good luck.

Yeah, in that lays the problem. They can't contact my friend, because if they do, certain people that are around my friend, if they found out, would make the situation much, much worse. I am the only person that knows about this, in this way apaprently, and really everything is limited between my friend and me. I could give the cell of my friend, but I don't exactly want to be giving off personal imformation of this person to anyone. In truth, i believe that to be an invasion of my friends privacy. I will be a bit more, factual with whomever I talk to, but as far as names and addresses go, I don't believe they need to have those. It's a case of a concept, where I need to go see someone, to comfort them, because of the issues surrounding them, I hope they don't ask, "we need your friends name and address, so we can contact them, and ask is "such and such true, and are you in this current situation"" To me, that would just fracture everything.

Sigh, sorry, depressing mood right now, I tend to ramble when I feel the fear that this is not going to go through and I will have to wait 2-4 weeks. Actually it frightens me to be truthful.

I really appricate your reply MMMIke, I will try to talk to my friend and see, between us what sort of information we are willing to present.

It doesn't hurt to ask. Contact Passport Canada...they may have seen your friends situation before and may have a solution.

Might aswell, I suppose. Though, I am going to apply for this in less than 12 hours, and it is almost midnight here, I'll have to make a call before I head over.

Thanks for the reply zenfisher.
