The lame Globe and Mail misses the point again. The three Canadian PMs who have gotten majorities in the last 40 years of Canadian politics all had lively personalities.

Mr Dud on Sussex Drive lacks spark. Go back to your accountant's office and conspire with other potential liontamers.

1. Trudeau gave everyone the finger and some good quotes. You gotta love/hate that.
2. Multoney was a slimy kind corporate hack and US lackey. Did I take a bribe? You gotta love/hate that.
3. Chretien was the little guy from Shawinigan who liked to choke people. You gotta love/hate that.

But they all got votes and were winners.

Using your yardstick of "spark" there's not much choice. Harper's is probably the brightest bulb of the bunch but that isn't saying much.
The thing about Harper is he seems to be to massage the rules to the point that the Cons have pseudo-majority using Senate stacking, prorouging & intimidation of the opposition. Hey more power to 'em if he can make it stick.

So no leader will get a majority. Harper is totally a rules guy, totally systems oriented. The bland organization man. Has no idea of marketing. Can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

And, Chretien got a majority with the Bloc in Quebec. So it can be done.

Sure it can be done but who has the shine to do it? LeBlanc? Trudeau? How about Baird?
Not saying any of the above has the royal jelly or the intellect to be PM but where else you going to look?
