The story of a world with multiple moons. It never got dark because of the moonlight. It was a very bright, cheerful and peaceful world. Then one day all the moons lined up to create a solar eclipse. Then everyone went nuts killing each other.

Today seemed like a Nightfall kind of day at CC.

The story of a world with multiple moons.
Been a while since you read it, hasn't it? Your memory's deceiving you. It's about a planet in a system with six stars and one large orbiting companion body, arranged so that it gets dark over half the planet only once every 2000 years or so... not that it materially alters your observation about things at CC though.

It has been awhile. I knew I was missing a few key facts. That's right they were stars not moons.

Quite right, Dexter Sinister, it was a lone planet circling six stars. As a result, the inhabitants are never in the darkness, they are not used to darkness. Then when once every 2000 years the night falls, it leads to anarchy and the end of civilization.

One of the best stories Asimov ever wrote. I remember, I particularly liked the idea of the amusement park ride. The ride consisted of riding three minutes in complete darkness. For people who have never been exposed to darkness, that must have been quite scary, probably comparable to the scariest of the roller coaster rides.

Asimov ended the story when the night came on and anarchy started. However, later he wrote Nightfall the novel (with somebody else). Here he continued the story even after the start of anarchy, all the way upto the dawn of the new civilization.

The story of a world with multiple moons.

It's high time for me to log off - I just read this as "the story of a world with multiple morons". The descriptionof the story made very little sense to me, consequently
So I guess I'd rather go and watch some TV, reading is over for today

That would be the sequel.
