Did anyone else think the NHL all star game was a joke?

The score was 12 to 9. But for the goaltenders, it could have been 40 to 30, or 80 to 70.....:pukeright:

There was no checking, no defense, and the officials were completely superfluous. Any similarity to a real hockey game was purely coincidental. The defensemen simply escorted the forwards to the goal so they could shoot on the net. I won't watch it again.

Juan,

Hasn't it been this way for the past 20 years though? Defence is an afterthought in these games.

You are probably right Durka. I hadn't watched an all star game in years...now I remember why..

I didn't watch it. I would've if Rory Fitzpatrick got in but the league sort of fixed the results so he wouldn't.

Even worse than an NHL allstar game is the NFL Pro Bowl.

Yeah, there was no defence at all, and they had quite a chat about that on the team 1040 the next day.

The real game was much better than the young stars game the night before, I hope they don't ever

have that one again.

The offence was fun to watch, they just needed a "tad" more defence, just staying with your man

all the way in to the net would have been nice.

I enjoyed the skills competition, the day before.

The game itself is not the most important thing to all the players and coaches, when you hear them

being interviewed, they love the get to gether, and meeting all the older stars of the game, and

their social meetings off the ice, so, I guess "we " are not the most important part of the event

to them, there is a lot of tradition for them, so, yes if they could just "check" a little harder it

could be more enjoyable for us too, but lets not be so wrapped up in ourselves that we think it

has to be entirely for our satisfaction. It is "star" attraction, so everyone at the game is having

a blast, lots of entertainment, and hoopla, lots of autograph signing, and interviews and hockey

stories between players and coaches, and dinners. So, I will enjoy it in that way, and not take it

so seriously, it's a fun time for all, and nothing more.
