Shouldn't be able to be done
That I fully agree with. I could see two possible solutions to this:
1. De-register all political charities. This would obviously include political parties and special interest groups. Judging by the behaviour of the CAF, i'd place them in that second category.
2. Just cut funding to political organizations but still let them keep their charitable status.
I'd prefer option 1 above, but if that was not politically feasible, then I'd still opt for option 2 while just making more of our charitable money tax deductible. When the government gives money to the CAF, I feel that that is part of my own money being given to them. But when their own members give to them of their own money, even if it is tax-deductible, then I feel more like I havn't contributed to it, and that it's their own money going there. And as much of a waste as it is to give all that money to political organizations, it's no worse than all the political spending done by the government anyway.
