I will sure as hell never plan to vacation in Aruba. The officials investigating Natalee Holloway's dissappearance were biased in favor of van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers since day 1.

Missing Teen's Mom Returns to Aruba

Wednesday, November 02, 2005
ORANJESTAD, Aruba — The mother of an Alabama teenager who vanished in Aruba more than five months ago has returned to the Dutch Caribbean island to press authorities to solve her daughter's disappearance.

Beth Holloway Twitty left Aruba in early September after a court ordered the release of three local youths who were the last people seen with her daughter, Natalee Holloway.

The honors student was last seen early on May 30 leaving a bar with Dutch national Joran van der Sloot and Surinamese brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. They were arrested on June 9 but released after a court ruled there was not enough evidence to hold them.

Twitty, who arrived Tuesday, told reporters that she wanted to meet with prosecutors and police to discuss a taped interview in which Deepak Kalpoe allegedly says all three had sex with Holloway, who would have turned 19 last month.

"I want to keep the communication channels open with the police and prosecutor," she said, adding that so far the prosecution has declined to meet with her.

She met with Aruban tourism officials, who have expressed concern that negative publicity surrounding the case could hurt the island's tourism-dependent economy. However, the government says tourism so far hasn't been affected.

Twitty declined to give details on the meeting when asked by reporters, saying only that she planned to leave the island on Thursday.

Myrna Jansen, managing director of the Aruba Tourism Authority, called the meeting informative. "Of course, we are not investigators, but we will do our utmost to solve this case."

Kalpoe's attorney and Aruban authorities did not immediately respond to phone calls seeking comment on the tape. Van der Sloot, in a television interview in September, said he had kissed Holloway but neither he nor the brothers had sex with her.

Holloway's body has never been found and authorities have announced no developments since the release of the Kalpoe brothers and van der Sloot, who has moved to the Netherlands to attend college.

Twitty said police have told her that authorities are analyzing an audiotape of an interview of Deepak Kalpoe by an investigator hired by the "Dr. Phil" show.

On the tape, Kalpoe says Holloway "dressed like a slut," and that he, his brother and van der Sloot had sex with the U.S. teen. Twitty said police told her that investigators are trying to make sure the tape has not been altered.

We don't play favorites here, Rev. If a local has committed murder against a foreigner, and all evidence points towards that person, we will surely prosecute and try to convict that individual. Not deliberately botching the investigation similar to what the Aruban officials did.

RE: Natalee Holloway's Mo

Have you looked at your own country, James? The rich routinely walk away from crimes that the poor would do time for. You convict blacks and Hispanics way more than white people. When whites are convicted of the same crime as black people, blacks consistently do more time.

You deport people to be tortured because you don't like their skin colour or their religion. You refuse to even count those that you murder in foreign countries.

Don't sit there and tell us how equal your country is, because it is very unequal.

After all these months, the governor of Alabama has officially called for a nationwide boycott of Aruba. I fully agree ... it's long overdue to Natalee Holloway and her family.

FOXNews had initially been covering Natalee's disappearance since day 1. Many of us are fully aware that the Aruban officials deliberately did not want this case solved. They had rebuffed suggestions from FBI officials that were in Aruba at the time.

Finally Someone Calls For Aruba Boycott

Alabama Governor Calls for Aruba Boycott Tue Nov 8, 5:45 PM ET

AP Associated Press:

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Gov. Bob Riley called for a nationwide travel boycott of Aruba on Tuesday on behalf of a missing Alabama teenager's family, who accuse the island's government of not fully cooperating with the investigation into her disappearance.

Riley asked his fellow governors to join him in urging the boycott of Aruba, where 18-year-old Natalee Holloway was last seen on May 30.

"There are no other alternatives to get Aruban authorities to take this as seriously as they should," Riley said.

Holloway's mother, Beth Holloway-Twitty, joined Riley at the Alabama Capitol for the boycott announcement. She contends Aruban authorities have failed to adequately investigate the possible murder of her daughter, who was with a Dutch teenager and two Surinamese brothers on the night she disappeared.

The young men were held for a time but have been released.

Aruba Police Chief Gerald Dompig said later Tuesday the investigation into Holloway's disappearance is not complete, and that authorities want to interview other American teenagers who were on the high school graduation trip with Holloway.

"We want to talk once more with various students because their first statements, taken by the FBI, were very short," Dompig said. "There are a few crucial questions that they still have to answer."

He would not say what those questions are.

Riley was asked if parents should allow their children to go to Aruba on similar trips as long as Holloway's disappearance is unsolved.

"I would not allow my daughter to go to Aruba," he said.

Actually I do agree Aruba has done a piss poor job trying to solve this case. If they can't do it or lack the means to investigate it, maybe they should ask for some help.

I do not know if a boycot would work as Americans travel to these places partially to drink due to the high archiac drinking age in America.

Well the young adult drinkers could always head to Mexico for vacation, no1. The legal drinking age there is 18 (however not strictly enforced). Some Canadian provinces such as Quebec also have a legal drinking age of 18. So the young drinkers do indeed have other options.

Oh, yes. Let's see...we go to a foreign country because of the lower drinking age, we go out to a nightclub and leave with three strangers....and then something bad happens.

The athorities probably have done a poor job; just like they did with OJ, Michael Jackson, etc etc etc.

Lets hope this boycott spreads from Alabama to the rest of the country.

So now authorities in Aruba are reacting angrily to the call for an Aruban boycott. Why should we care about the Aruban authorities, when it's clearly obvious that they couldn't care less about Natalee Holloway. What excuse could they possibly have for playing favorites during the investigation on Natalee's disappearance? Why did they refuse expert help in the form of the FBI? We must not forget about Natalee. Lets get behind Natalee's family and Alabama Governor Bob Riley to support this Boycott.

Three Quarters of Alabama Residents Support Aruba Boycott

FOXNews:

Three-Quarters of Alabama Residents Support Aruba Boycott, Poll Says
Sunday, November 20, 2005

MOBILE, Ala., Ala. — Three-quarters of Alabama residents back the governor's call for a travel boycott of Aruba to protest the island's handling of the disappearance of teenager Natalee Holloway.

The poll, conducted by the Mobile Register and University of South Alabama and released Sunday, also found that seven out of 10 respondents would not travel to the Caribbean island even if they won a free trip.

Gov. Bob Riley proposed the boycott to protest the investigation into the disappearance of Holloway, who went missing in May at the end of a Mountain Brook High School graduation trip.

The teen's family claims authorities in Aruba have conducted a shoddy investigation. Holloway, who was 18 when she vanished, was last seen leaving a bar with three young Aruba residents. Each of the three was later taken into custody but has since been released.

Authorities in Aruba have reacted angrily to the call for a boycott. The State Department has refused to support a boycott, as have many travel groups.

"The governor certainly understands there is nothing he can legally do to stop Americans from traveling to Aruba," said Riley spokesman Jeff Emerson. "This is just using the bully pulpit to urge them to consider other travel options."

The poll, which was taken Monday through Thursday by the USA Polling Group, surveyed 400 adult residents of Alabama. The results carry a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.
