NAME THAT MACGUFFIN!
Sir Alfred Hitchcock had a name for those invaluable articles, earth shaking treaties, secret formulas, missing bombs, et cetera, that loom large in action films; yet their only function is as a device to get the characters interacting, and to keep them moving until the film ends. He called them a MacGuffin.
Name the following five MacGuffins, and the movie from which they come. Some are obvious, others may be more difficult.
[1]
“Do you know what these are? . . They cannot be rescinded . . . not even questioned.”
[2]
“I guess ________ is just a piece in a jigsaw puzzle, a missing piece.”
[3]
“Heavy. What is it?”
“The stuff that dreams are made of.”
[4]
“The miracle food of high-energy plankton, gathered from all the oceans of the world.”
[5]
“What’s in the box?”
“The head of the Medusa, that’s what’s in the box. And whoever looks on her will be changed, not into stone, but into brimstone and ashes.”
For those who wish to play, I will post the answers on Friday June 17th.
