Why? Was your motivation to keep your man, or to collect welfare? If not, then you don't fall into my category (which, granted, wasn't phrased very well). Must be the scotch again. I wasn't saying the stupid kids were the only ones who kept their babies, or at least that's not what I was trying to say, it's that they were the ones keeping them for the wrong reasons.

I don't use 'dumb,' because it means 'unable to speak.'

As a matter of fact I used Critter to try to get his father to stay with me. All I got from his father was attempted murder.....he tried to throw me off a honda 750 doing 100.....yup. I was 20 and just wanted someone to love me no matter what........It worked.....I got Critter.

Oh I dunno...maybe the particular circle of hell should correlate with however many times they've chosen abortion over condoms. Ya know, after the 7th or 8th abortion, they should be able to figure out whats causing that pesky menstrual period thing to stop.

Of course everyone is different, so why should any woman be forced to do something she doesn't want because you would find it educational for yourself? SHE may not. I think SHE should be the one to decide that, not you or me and certainly not some politician looking to score points with the pro life lobby.

Let's be specific. I wouldn't find it educational. I've seen all sorts of ultrasounds, I've worked as a nurse in maternal-child health for about 7 years. Why should I be forced to have an ultrasound if I chose to have an abortion?

But I can say, my mother was against abortion, and many other women and mothers I know are against it.

I heard this story at from a motivational speaker, that basically put in stone my position on this: here is the story:

The motivational speaker was at a High School and was asking the students to point into directions for various issues. He told the students to point left if a woman should be able to choose the right to abort or right if the government should illegalize abortion with expections of rape and incest. A boyfriend and girlfriend had differing pointed fingers. The girl was mad at her boyfriend and grabbed his hand and moved it over to the left, he refused and kept pointing right. The girl becoming angry, drags her boyfriend up in front of everyone and takes the mike from the motivational speaker, and does a 3 minute speach on why she should be able to choose to abort. The boyfriend starts to water in his eyes, and responds in the mike "17 years ago my mother went into an abortion clinic and was waiting for the doctor and in a sudden moment she left and had me 7 months later... thats why I am against it". And the girl is shocked and walks back to the bleachers with her boyfriend in silence.

You see? It doesn't matter what stage the life is at, from a zygote its a LIFE, and I refuse to have a woman deny that life.

Call me ignorant, call me a religious zealot, but I am for human life being valued at ALL stages.

I guess politically rape and incest could be exceptions, but if their is no complications the rape victim can have the child and put it in social services.

We are talking about a life that could grow and thrive into a human being.

Statistics, don't matter when your deciding to allow life or not.

I'm sorry but maybe if a woman heard the heartbeat of the embryo inside her, she would realize she is killing a life that could turn into a great person.

For a multitude of reasons I cannot support a woman's right to abort.

And abortion is where many so called "feminists" cut off their feminism.

I hope South Dakota and now South Carolina lead the way to showing the world that we respect the life of the unborn over all else.

The main problem, in my opinion, when it comes to abortion is that we cannot all agree on what is considered a baby. Is a zygote a baby? A sperm cell? It's a matter of opinion. Personally, I would never allow myself to have an abortion... I love kids, and even the thought of having one in poverty is a good one, because I would love it dearly and do everything in my power to give it a good life.

But I shudder at the thought of a woman's rights being taken away. If a woman decides a zygote is not a child, then in her eyes she is not murdering anything but a lump of cells that has the potential to become a child. She doesn't understand why people think her right to decide what to do with her own body should be taken away. I don't think anybody has the right to make the decision except the two individuals involved, the parents.

Until we can all agree on what a child is and what a child isn't, I think abortion should be legal.

I could never abort, and I am pro-choice.

I believe men should have a say in it. If the man is able and willing to care for the child, without the help of the mother, then he should have the right to do so.

Edit: However, in saying that, if the woman decides she wants an abortion and the man decides he wants to keep the child, I don't think he has a right to demand support from her, since she didn't want the child to begin with.

Quite a good point. It always kind of bugs me when people feel the need to choose for someone else. I'm the result of an unplanned pregnancy too. Like that young man in the story, my birthmother didn't want to be pregnant but she obviously didn't choose an abortion. I'd still point my finger to the left. We've all got opinions. The difference is the people pointing left don't try to force pregnant women to do what they want.

Yes, there are certain circumstances in which I would choose to abort.... There are very few, but I can't say never.

No I don't think men should have any rights in abortion decisions... not until they can become pregnant. It isn't fair, but that's the way it is.

I think it's a good thing that I don't work there too. I wouldn't want to work in a place where pro-life politicians feel the need to stick their noses into my medical decisions or yours. Individuals can make their own decisions without paternalistic government meddling.
