One of Gopherland's top boys tennis players is a girl!
Jessie Aney went undefeated during the regular season for Rochester Century high school. Her only loss of the season was a 6-2 6-2 to the state's # 2 player. Mind you this was after she got only 2 hours of rest because of a previous match.
If you see her play you will be amazed at her balance, accuracy, strength (she is taller and physically stronger than many of her male opponents), and excellent footwork. Had she been allowed to play in a clay court rather than hard surface and allowed a day's rest she would have had a closer match or possibly won. She will be attending Univ of North Carolina but, in truth, should pass that up and turn pro where she would earn a truck load of money in a year's time.
