Thanks for that lengthy reply karrie :) I will continue to work hard to see her become reality one day. Canadians will thank me for doing this, I know it deep down they will.

I agree. I think if you bring this vision to fruition, it would be incredible.

What kind of business and engineering studies do you plan to pursue?

Yes it does. Honestly, to make this clear, I would have thought that this forum would be flocking to my page to see what the ship would be like. Guess she doesn't have a strong following yet. Have we really lost our sense of pride when it comes to building great things? I'm just trying to get some more Canadian likes on my page to really get the page self-sustaining from conversations, shares, and likes alone.

I'm quite saddened that she doesn't appear to "catch on" with fellow Canadians as of yet.

All I ask is to at least drop a like on the page. As Canadians, I feel it is our chance to be able to show the world what we can build. Trust me, it's an opportunity us as Canadians won't ever regret.

Sorry, AD........I don't do FB, MySpace or any other of those type of social media. I will just have to 'like' you here. Again, good luck with pursuing your dream.

Thanks for all the support and good wishes. I will make my country proud by building this ship.

I want to go into marine engineering; essentially I will be designing and building the engines that go into ships. I've always had a knack for propulsion systems of ships :)

That is a really awesome idea that you have and I wish you well with it. Maybe someday we can all say "We sort of, kind of knew him when..." :D

Thank you for your support. Although it might seem to some of you I am "spamming" this thread with my Facebook page link, it's solely because I am trying to get a bigger audience to see my project (especially through Canada) so it attracts a widespread interest.

But I will start by getting through college and making my living after then seeing if life will steer me back towards the ship I want built so much.

Welcome to Canadian Content.

One glaring issue I see with your ship plans is a frustrating one in this day and age, and that's the fact that its net presence will suck due to its name.

MS Canada is a search key for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
MV for Marine Vessel sounds better.

Make it a giant birch bark canoe.

Probably would make it easier to understand :D The actual choice of diesel propulsion was taken from the White Star Line's 1928-designed but never built MV Oceanic III, a 1000-ft 30-knot liner.

As far as interior design goes, she will have public rooms with decor from each of our provinces and territories, from the sea life of the Maritimes to the plains of Saskatchewan, to the forests of British Columbia, and frozen icy expanses of Nunavut and the Yukon. She will have something to please every Canadian no matter where they reside within Canada. Some of the public rooms I already have given names: Niagara Dining Room (bluish-waterfall color scheme); Maple Leaf Lounge (motif of maple leafs throughout). Tim Hortons will be onboard (I know how much my fellow Canadians will appreciate that) :D Other onboard features include: a gym, outdoor pool (can be heated); movie theater in the front of the ship; outdoor sports deck aft of the second funnel.

Any other interior ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I laud your stated ambition but goodness me; stiff competition for unique ideas within the marine design exist all over the map now Oasis of the Seas etc., are going to make an aged Titanic-like design seem like just another re-birth of the Mustang car.

Google HMCS Bras d'Or to see an origional Canadian idea and how far that got. Even the fabled Avro Arrow for an example of what you're up against with putting a superior item out there and actually obtaining the funds to build in the face of competition from other governments who can sandbag you, why; because their corporate lobbyists demand it.

Facebook? No way Jose! After seeing the damage done by that particular social networking page to a niece of mine going through a nasty marriage breakup, I wouldn't even go near that site with someone else's computer!

I have all the friends I need thanks and would hardly acknowledge "liking" or being a "friend" to an anoymous person I've never met personally.

Best of luck in your endeavours.
