A winning strategy for Romney in 2016 would be to appeal to the 47% of Americans he hates and appeal to the 48% of Americans who hates Obama and win a few of the voters of the 52% that voted for Obama and he will have a landslide victory.. Do the math..47% + 48% + some of the (52%) = landslide victory. Political science 101!!!

In those days the Mormon church didn't like to advertise the disgusting, rampant, polygamy of the elders. Or how young men were driven off so more women were available for the elders. Historical relevance. It was 1847, Utah was part of the territory we seized from Mexico, inhabited by Mexicans and Indians. America didn't want the Mormons, but figured if they were far enough away, it was OK for them to be polygamists if they would hold Utah for America against the brown people. Because the Mormon church was officially and doctrinally racist as well as sexist, America figured they'd be OK for holding their part of the West.

but to be fair, that polygamy between old men and young girls and driving out the young men occurs with compound mormons. Many do not and did not then live in the compounds. Many lived quite "normal" lives in Utah, other States and up here in Canada.
