The FDA or the CFIA are worthwhile organizations. We need regulation in many cases or the food
you eat would not be fit for human consumption. It is not the individual thinking for themselves here
it is people who would use god knows what as additives that actually harm health. This is especially
true when it comes to imported food, the only problem is that the imports are not subject to the same
standards as domestically produced product. Someone mentioned closing down the organic council
next as a question. Well the fact of the matter is the organic industry as it exists right now is little
more than a joke. You have no idea if a product is truly organic. The reason is because the whole and
I mean the whole system is based on paperwork and nothing more.
There are no random unannounced on site inspections on organic farms. There is no soil testing done
to determine that the food grown organically is actually grown organically. In my opinion the organic
industry needs to start over and its first goal should be to ensure it is actually organic.
We do not need a sodium panel to ensure companies follow the law, we need government enforcement
of the laws in place and we need consumers to read the label and make up their own mind. If people do
not buy the product because there is too much salt they will reduce the content. We don't need more
regulation, for consumers, we need consumers to use common sense.
