We have deserts in Canada in areas that are fairly mild in the winter, for the most part. There are also places where you need never converse with a single soul if that is your choice. I know a few folks in my area who keep themselves to themselves. They aren't unfriendly but they don't put themselves out and about much.
Deserts only for a few weeks and if it's mild, it's mostly wet. Not good either way.

“Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”
Socialism is for losers and third world countries. It has no place in materialistic society.

I think you're a part of the less fortunate though.
Some of us have to be examples of what not to do in like. Look at me, with my normal luck I happened to run out of gas righ at this very spot. Cheque is in the mail, till it arrives we have lots of time to 'chat'. How fortunate is that???

Come on guys, lets be fair, the beaches of any part of Hudson Bay are more valuable than the Swamps or the Tundra That it would take 20M to jump-start it properly(minus what the winters claim) is a bit a stumbling block at the moment. . . . well, . . . that and the coming ice-age

Isolation, buy an old motel at the end of some deserted road and rent out the rooms with 4 cots in each room and trow the food into the kitchen area and let them figure out the rest on their own, You know like the tradition says why it happened to the locals also. Something about a free tank of gas and keep driving an a specific direction until you run out and that is your new home foreveremore.

that's great, but it's not really sustainable on the earth's ecosystems.
Considering it's primarily a natural event, I'm not exactly sure what you think can seriously be done about it. The Earth has amply demonstrated throughout its history that nature has no problem pushing the reset button on life and she has a variety of ways to do it. Climate change is and has been one of those ways.
On top of everything else, the West isn't so much doing something about the problem as shifting the burden to developing and third world countries. So the net effect on GHG emissions would be negligible, at best.

Someone on a different forum described it this way. Let's say both you and I have fire pits in our backyards because we both like to have backyard fires. Now, let's assume that you only have a fire maybe once or twice a week because you don't have ready, steady access to firewood while I have all the firewood I can handle, so I have a fire almost every night.
Then one day I decide that backyard fires are bad for the environment and quit having them, BUT I grant you access to my firewood supply and you decide to have a fire almost every night.
While I can honestly state that I've cut down on my personal GHG emissions, I haven't really actually reduced the number being produced since you are now burning the firewood I would have burned if I hadn't stopped.

the terms aren't compatible. capitalism refuses to give any type of power to the less fortunate, instead all power is allocated to the parasitical ultra-wealthy.

Capitalism is like a game of monopoly. At first when everyone is equal it's fun. By the end when one player is winning, it's mostly only fun for the winner
